About RE:Up Studio
RE:Up Studio is a social enterprise program by the Kelowna & District SHARE Society, blending environmental action with social empowerment. Through hands-on workshops and upcycling projects, we support individuals who face employment or social barriers by teaching practical skills in a safe, inclusive space.
Participants in RE:Up workshops come from diverse backgrounds and include youth and adults with a wide range of abilities and skill levels. Our mission is rooted in dignity, creativity, community-based learning, and sustainability.
Role: Facilitator (Sewing + Teaching Focus)
We're seeking a compassionate, skilled facilitator with sewing expertise and teaching or instructional experience to lead upcycling workshops with diverse participants. You'll help individuals learn new skills, express creativity, and build confidence--regardless of where they're starting from.
Key Responsibilities
? Facilitate inclusive, hands-on sewing and upcycling workshops
? Teach beginner to intermediate sewing skills using accessible methods
? Adapt instruction for a variety of learning styles and skill levels
? Create a welcoming, empowering environment for youth and adults with diverse abilities and employment barriers
? Co-develop workshop content with the RE:Up team
? Maintain supplies and organize workshop space
? Track attendance and provide informal feedback on progress
? Promote sustainability and creative reuse practices
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
? Strong sewing skills (machine and hand sewing)
? Experience teaching or facilitating in community, education, or arts-based settings
? Confidence working with individuals with diverse abilities, neurodiversity, or mental
health challenges
? Flexibility, patience, and a supportive teaching style adaptable to mixed skill levels
? Strong communication and organizational skills
? Passion for sustainability, upcycling, and social good
? Willingness to undergo a criminal record check
