Purpose of the role



Under the supervision of the Design and Product Development Supervisor, the Colorist Technician manages the approval and organization of colors and prints. They pay close attention to detail to ensure a final product that is consistent and visually appealing, while flagging any aesthetic inconsistencies. The department communicates daily with suppliers to validate colors and prints while respecting production timelines. The role collaborates closely with the supply chain, design, technical design, purchasing, and production teams to bring the coloration vision to life and optimize product launch.



Key Responsibilities



Create and maintain collection elements in our PLM system Blue Cherry, including styles, color codes, color palette, merchandising board group, and detailed BOM (Bill of Materials) Request color (lab dips) and print (strike offs) samples from overseas suppliers, ensuring production schedule deadlines are met and following up as needed Evaluate, approve, or reject color and print samples to ensure color accuracy and consistency across all fabrics and trims of a style, maintaining harmony across the collection and departments Organize and file color and fabric samples for future reference Communicate daily with overseas suppliers to provide feedback on color and print samples or address any issues related to colors, prints, fabrics, etc. Ensure prints (artwork) meet color and dimension standards, obtain approval from the purchasing department, and send to vendors Analyze printing and dyeing techniques, share expertise with internal teams regarding feasibility and costs, provide instructions to manufacturers, and resolve issues in collaboration with supply chain teams Participate in kick-off meetings for new production runs and monitor progress during weekly follow-ups with the supply chain Order Pantone color samples, send portions to overseas suppliers, organize the reference library, and maintain it by archiving previous seasons Create digital color charts for each delivery based on colors selected by the design department, updating them with solid and printed fabric samples Develop components (trims), packaging, and labeling with overseas suppliers, including PLM coding, artwork (drawings with dimensions and colors), and placement guides Catalog, organize, and maintain the FTA (trims) library after quality validation with the technical design team Perform any other related tasks in design and product development

Your Profile



Versatility and curiosity: You have strong knowledge of printing techniques and fabrics, and can adapt your communication to the audience while giving clear instructions to manufacturers Design and material awareness: You are interested in the production cycle, fabrics, their manufacturing, and the impact on design Adaptability and collaboration: You can prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while collaborating effectively with different teams Precision and attention to detail: Your organizational skills, meticulousness, and autonomy allow you to deliver accurate and high-quality work

Requirements



College diploma in fashion design or equivalent; Must pass the Munsell color perception test and have a strong eye for color, as well as extensive knowledge of fabrics and processes; Bilingualism essential written and spoken (The person must communicate outside Quebec); Basic knowledge of Illustrator; Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Experience with a PLM system is an asset;
