Position Summary



We are looking for a dedicated

Transformer Test Technician

to join our quality and production team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting routine and specialized electrical tests on completed transformers to verify they meet all required specifications, safety standards, and customer expectations. This position involves working with electrical testing equipment, interpreting test results, and ensuring all products are ready for safe, reliable operation in the field.

Key Responsibilities



Perform electrical testing on completed transformers, including insulation resistance, turns ratio, winding resistance, and high-potential (Hi-Pot) tests in accordance with company and customer specifications Review engineering drawings, customer requirements, and technical standards (such as ANSI, IEEE, or IEC) to confirm applicable testing requirements Prepare and set up test stations, ensuring all test equipment is properly configured, calibrated, and safe for operation Conduct inspections and tests systematically, documenting all test results with accuracy and completeness Accurately record all test results, product compliance details, and quality control checkpoints within the company's ERP system Identify and troubleshoot issues discovered during testing, collaborating with engineering and production teams to resolve defects Operate test equipment including multimeters, hipot testers, insulation resistance meters, and other specialized transformer testing tools Assist with the preparation of test plans and support submission of testing documentation to customers when required Maintain accurate records of test data, product compliance, and quality control checkpoints Ensure all testing activities follow established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, electrical isolation, and PPE requirements Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing processes, documentation, and product reliability

Qualifications & Requirements



College diploma, University degree or technical certification in electrical engineering technology, electrical trade, technologist or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum

2 years of experience

in transformer testing, electrical equipment testing, or a related technical field (transformer testing experience preferred) Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documents Familiarity with transformer construction, components, and operational principles Experience operating electrical test equipment such as multimeters, insulation resistance testers, and hipot equipment Strong understanding of safety requirements for working with high-voltage electrical equipment Experience using ERP systems to record production, testing, or quality data is considered an asset Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and troubleshooting abilities Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a production environment Strong communication skills and ability to work with engineering, production, and quality teams Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks in a manufacturing environment
