DESCRIPTION:
The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating services and managing the day-to-day operations of the 24/7 program. Working in partnership with Community Support Workers, the Coordinator helps ensure the consistent and effective delivery of core services, including shelter, food, safety, client record maintenance, and harm reduction practices. The Coordinator collaborates with the Manager, Community Support Workers, and the Outreach Team to support smooth participant intake, maintain clear communication between shifts, and uphold a strong, client-centered, minimal-barrier approach. The Coordinator will also contribute to staff training, orientation, and mentoring support as needed, ensuring that all program activities align with Progressive Housing Society's policies, procedures, and Mission Statement.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, or other related field preferred; may consider equivalent combination of education and experience
3 years related experience in mental health
Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a related field
An equivalent combination of education and experience, including lived experience, may be considered.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Naloxone Training.
Provincial Violence Prevention Training.
Knowledgeable about various mental health conditions and mental health first aid, trauma-informed care and suicide prevention training are an asset.
Successful clearance of a criminal record check.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates and monitors the day-to-day operations of the 24/7 program to ensure smooth functioning and adherence to operational standards.
Actively provides direct client support, addressing needs with a trauma-informed, compassionate, and minimal-barrier approach.
Work alongside Community Support Workers to maintain delivery of core services such as shelter, food service, client record keeping, and harm reduction practices.
Collaborates with the Manager, CSWs to facilitate participant intake, ensure accurate shift-to-shift communication, and connect clients to appropriate resources and services.
Assists in identifying operational needs, safety concerns, and supply requirements, and coordinate responses with the Manager.
Maintains accurate records of operations, incidents, and client interactions as needed.
Assists in responding to crises and emergencies, working in partnership with staff and following established emergency protocols.
Contributes to training, orientation, mentoring of staff, and casual employees.
Ensures program activities align with Progressive Housing Society's policies, procedures, collective agreement provisions, and Mission Statement.
Adapts to evolving program needs and participates in organizational initiatives, including program relocations or service adjustments.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of working with marginalized populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use.
Solid understanding of harm reduction principles, overdose response (Naloxone), and current trends in illicit substances.
Proven ability to coordinate and support the delivery of services in a minimal-barrier, trauma-informed environment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in maintaining accurate records, incident reporting, and ensuring operational compliance with policies and procedures
Skilled in de-escalation, crisis response, and maintaining a safe and respectful environment for clients and staff.
Ability to work effectively alongside unionized staff, building trust and maintaining respectful working relationships.
