Tenure-Track Associate Professor in Environmental Policy and Management
& Chair of Environmental Studies and Sciences The Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences at The University of Winnipeg invites outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The successful candidate will serve as Department Chair for a three or five year term; the length of term will be mutually agreed upon by the candidate and the Departmental Personnel Committee. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in environmental studies/sciences or a closely related discipline. Candidates must have research and teaching expertise in environmental policy and management, including environmental impact assessment, environmental law, environment and business, or closely related area. Candidates must have a strong record of scholarly activity and research which includes securing research funding and mentoring students within their own research programs. The ideal candidate will provide a long-term commitment to the development of Environmental Studies and Sciences as a centre of excellence at The University of Winnipeg. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and articulating a vision and strategic direction for a unit, program, department, school, college, or team, including their teaching, research, and service missions. Several years of experience with progressively responsible leadership is an asset. We seek an outstanding colleague with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research, and the ability to engage with industry, government and community partners. Applicants should have a strong and active publication record and proven ability or high potential to attract competitively awarded research funding from a Canadian Tri-Council or similar national granting agencies. The successful candidate will teach and advise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, lead the department in a collegial fashion, and contribute meaningfully to departmental and university service. The selection committee will begin reviewing applications on March 15, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled; full consideration is assured for applications received by March 10, 2023. Subject to budgetary approval, this position will be effective from July 1, 2023. Salary levels will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
