About the Job:




Tenant Relations Specialist is responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining support to residents regarding their occupancy, rent allocation and financial literacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Meet with new residents and complete all necessary documentation (Occupancy Agreements, OW Applications, ODSP Pay Direct Forms, set-up pay direct (if occupant is on OW/ODSP etc.) Track arrears and assist tenants in developing re-payment plans Liaise and regularly provide system access navigation support with OW and ODSP (payment of arrears, discretionary funds, etc.) Data Entry, spreadsheet development/management, book keeping and reconciliation Work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure clients rent/occupancy goals are met Ensure appropriate records are kept and ensure that statistical information is maintained as per agency standards Adhere to agency Health & Safety Program and the Client Safety Framework in the promotion of client safety Perform additional duties as required/delegated by Management

Occupancy Agreement & Rent Collection

:

Liaise consistently with OW/ODSP caseworker and on-site primary workers Assist resident with application to OW or ODSP within the first 30 days of residence (if no source of income) Assist with coordinating residential Occupancy Agreement review, signing and submission. Assist with rent collection/payment - ensuring transaction ledger is updated and receipts are reconciled Regular dialogue and follow up on arrears Facilitate delivery of 'Notice of Unpaid Rent', 'Arrears Repayment Plan' and 'Discharge letters' to residents Ensure communication with Housing Representatives if/when a resident transitions out of program.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary education in Human Services and/or equivalent Proficiency in the Residential Tenancies Act and Landlord/Tenant Board legislation Understanding of homelessness and at risk of homelessness and the impacts of addiction, mental health, homelessness and poverty Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word Experience preparing basic accounting entries including recording of cheques, deposits and reconciling bank accounts. Experience collaborating with partners and other community resources A valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's license and a vehicle with adequate insurance coverage is required Valid certification in CPI, CPR, First Aid, and Assist is mandatory

Reporting Function:




They work with both internal and external partners, specifically Region of Waterloo OW and ODSP and interact with all levels within the organization.



They are a support system, resource, and an advocator for the team and Organization.





Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:



Average amount of physical effort is required. Able to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time Able to answer and communicate telephone calls and general computer use Able to lift up to 20lbs (product, documents, etc.) Vehicle travel and open doors as required.
