Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. As one of Canada’s top ten research institutes, we are committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.
A Research Associate is required to work at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic to support clinical research in patients with rheumatic conditions. Most work will be to support clinical trials for knee osteoarthritis.
In addition to regular administrative duties required to support clinical research, the candidate will be required to perform the following tasks with appropriate levels of supervision:
Informed Consent
Gait biomachanics and physical performance testing
Biological sample handling, processing, and storage, including bio-banking
Inventory management related to clinical research supplies and ordering
Research ethics application preparation and maintenance
Electronic database creation and maintenance
Research records management and filing
Data collection, entry, and management, including surveys, patient-reported outcomes, demographics and other commonly used clinical research instruments
Chart review and data extraction
Pain assessments including Quantitative Sensory Testing
Imaging assessments, readings and analysis
Manuscript and funding proposal writing
Rate of Pay: To commensurate with experience
Hours per Week: Part-Time, 28 hrs/week
Duration: One year
Qualifications
Master’s degree in health related-field
Minimum 2 years recent related experience in a similar role; preferably in a research environment
Gait biomechanics experience is an asset
REDCap Database experience is an asset
Advanced MS Excel and Access software experience is an asset
Clinical trial sponsor contracts experience is an asset
Lawson Health Research Institute research approvals application experience is an asset
Statistical software package and analysis experience is an asset
Phlebotomy training is an asset
Clinical skills related to physical and occupational therapy, fitness assessment and training, and nursing or similar field would be an asset
Imaging (e.g., magnetic resonance, CT, ray, ultrasound) experience would be an asset
Quantitative Sensory Testing experience is an asset
Manuscript and funding proposal writing experience is an asset
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
