School Principal
Duties and Responsibilities:
To be directly responsible to the principal and perform the principal's secretarial duties as required (i.e., attend meetings)
To be responsible for general secretarial and clerical duties under the limited supervision of the principal
To be responsible for data collection, record keeping, and report preparation as required by the principal and other Board staff
To supervise the work of the secretarial staff where applicable and under the limited supervision of the principal, proofreading, editing, etc. correspondence and reports
To communicate with parents on behalf of staff regarding unexpected student incidents, school closures, health problems and minor injuries
To deal with school matters that relate to students, staff, and the public in general as required or in the absence of administrative staff (having some knowledge of corporate policy and related statutory requirements being helpful)
To be responsible for maintaining a daily bus manifest list
To keep in confidence all information as it relates to students, staff, parents, and the Board
To operate and be responsible for office equipment and train staff in the handling of office equipment such as computers (data input and retrieval), copiers, calculators, security system and other office equipment
To demonstrate strong problem solving and people skills
To monitor and/or perform school purchasing, accounting functions, attendance functions, budget tracking, school information systems, travel, and meetings
Qualifications and Experience:
A Community College diploma or equivalent certification plus a high aptitude in computer operations
Assets:
Strong oral and written communication skills are required as well as knowledge of office procedures and the use of office equipment
Previous experience with the computerized student information system would be an asset
Strong working knowledge of SchoolCash.NET and EXCEL would be an asset
