Shift:

10 AM - 6:30 PM, with Thursday/Friday off

Compensation:

$24.33 pre-probation, and $26.36 post-probation

About The Job:



Champions exemplary food services that enhance the dining experience of residents and their guests. Responsible for all aspects of kitchen management, meal planning & preparation, presentation and service. Acts as a member of the program team to support life quality and choice for residents.



Job responsibilities:



Acting in a leadership capacity, provides guidance and direction prep and cooks by interpreting and adhering to policies and procedures related to food services; provides a positive dining experience for residents and their guests and incorporates resident needs and requests into meal planning and services. Ensures residents are offered varied, appetizing and nourishing meals through all delivery points; plans monthly menus, directs food preparation and service, and follows standardized recipes and a rotating meal plan. Plans and directs overall kitchen operations including purchasing and inventory control. Sources and purchases food products using an online ordering system. Receives and verifies deliveries. Oversees inventory control and storage of all food stuffs and dry goods. Ensures food service staff upholds high service standards in every aspect of the food preparation and service process. Plans and prepares resident meals and snacks. Plans, prepares and monitors the service of catered and special event menu plans to ensure individual needs and standards for food service are met or exceeded and costs fall within budget. Meets with residents informally and through "Chef's Club" and addresses issues related to food preparation, meal planning and dining room services. Gathers feedback and takes appropriate actions to continuously improve food quality and service. Leads food service quality improvement activities including the development of food preparation and service standards. Conducts food preparation and service audits within the kitchen and dining room. Helps generate additional Ancillary income with guest meal revenue and community food events at by providing services and consistent products. Assists in the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of food services operating budgets. Leads and monitors accurate recordkeeping related to food and supply purchases, inventory control, receiving, portion control and wastage. Participates as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Consistently models Food Safe & WHMIS protocols and ensures employees follow established procedures to ensure kitchen equipment and smallware's are kept in safe working order, and high levels of cleanliness and sanitation are upheld throughout the food preparation environment. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Certification Requirements:



Experience in volume food preparation preferably in a restaurant environment. Formal culinary training and volume kitchen management experience required Food Safe - Level II certificate required. Knowledge of provincial health, sanitation and safety regulations. Expertise managing a food service budget including ordering, menu planning and portion control. Experience with on-line food ordering systems a definite asset. Solid understanding of customer centered service provision consistent with Vantage Living's Vibrant Advantage(TM) and in support of exemplary service delivery. Ability to respond to the changing needs and preferences of residents.Able to communicate effectively with seniors.
