Role Summary:

The maintenance worker is responsible for general maintenance services for Seaview Manor, and reports to the Director of Environmental Services. Services will be delivered within the established Mission, Vision and Values of the organization and will meet the appropriate environmental and safety standards for long term care facilities.

Qualifications

Grade 12 Diploma. Designated trade certificate in carpentry, plumbing, electrical or related field plus experience in building and property maintenance considered an asset. Basic knowledge and demonstrated skill in electrical work, general and preventative maintenance procedures. Demonstrated skills and experience in plumbing, pipe fitting, basic carpentry, painting, and dry wall repairs. Ability to operate shop tools and power equipment, as well as small tractor, snow blower and motorized lawn care equipment. Good physical health and ability to perform physical tasks using good body mechanics. Excellent team player, and experience collaborating with other members of a maintenance team responsible for building and property services. Ensure safe department practices and delivery of safe services for all residents and employees. Applicants must demonstrate job stability as evidenced by maintaining a good attendance record. Knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Act (Occupational Health & Safety). Emergency First Aid and CPR certification-or willing to obtain. Clear Vulnerable Sector/Criminal record check. Knowledge of computer systems, security systems is beneficial. Valid drivers license with a clean record. Must be available to pick up additional shifts and 24-hour emergency callouts. Must be flexible to workdays, evenings, or nights.

Responsible to maintain the building, equipment, and property including general and emergency maintenance and repairs. Responsible for the Preventative Maintenance Program to reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and safety issues. Understand the building operations and mechanical systems. (Heating, cooling, water, alarm system) to identify and arrange for service or repair. Applicants must demonstrate job stability as evidenced by maintaining a good attendance record. Must be a team player, collaborating with other members of the Maintenance team.
