As part of the overhaul of our communication strategy, L\xe2\x80\x99Arche Ottawa is looking for a part-time Communication Intern. The role of the Communications Intern will be to implement L\'Arche Ottawa\xe2\x80\x99s communications strategy. He or she will develop the Foundation\'s communication initiatives (internal/external following the L\xe2\x80\x99Arche Canada branding, lead generation, online & offline events, and digital marketing) in order to develop the communication strategy internally and externally. This role will work across functions and interact with friends, persons with disabilities, and senior leaders of the inclusion movements and other institutions. The position requires a candidate with a blend of strategy, technical, creative, analytic and project management expertise. The role is a summer job temporary position, 40 hours a week for a 2-month contract. Major Duties and Responsibilities Under the direction of the Fundraising Administrator, the Communications Adviser will be responsible for the internal and external communications for L\xe2\x80\x99Arche Ottawa, including updating the website and various posting to various social media channels. The tasks and responsibilities of the successful candidate will be:
  • Updating the L\xe2\x80\x99Arche Ottawa website with the new national branding and helping to keep the website updated with event information and fundraising messaging.
  • Create and develop professional social media posts that are consistent with the new branding and managing the digital communications channels.
  • Developing internal communication tools and media such as presentations, flyers and posters.
  • Maintain consistency in the messaging, branding, content, and look-and-feel of all internal and external communications, marketing materials, newsletter and events.
  • Generate out-of-the-box ideas for experiential and guerilla marketing stunts.
  • Follow-up and management of relations with core members, friends, community and institutions.
  • Analysis and follow-up of the communication plan according to a structured agenda.
Qualifications, skills and position requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in communication, marketing, web design, graphic design, computer science or a relevant discipline
  • Experience designing and updating websites, ideally WordPress.
  • Minimum 1-year experience or a combination of education and experience in the communications, website design and/or social media field
  • Fluently bilingual with excellent written and oral knowledge of both of the two official languages, English and French.
  • Experience in web design and the creation of rich, search engine optimized content is a plus
  • Experience in NGO brand development is a plus.
  • Clear police check including vulnerable sector screening
