QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
Bachelor of Education;
Teaching experience in elementary grades;
Teaching experience in the use of current, research-based practices for literacy and numeracy learning;
Teaching experience using Assessment for Learning strategies;
Teaching experience or studies for how to teach and support English language learners
Teaching experience with integration of social and emotional learning throughout classroom programming.
Experience incorporating First Peoples Principles of Learning across the curriculum;
Experience using various technology, including Epson boards, will be an asset
NOTE:
Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the education criteria listed above may be equally considered
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
Strong ability to adapt and modify curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities;
Strong ability to develop differentiated instructional opportunities for students, to collaborate with LAT teachers and educational assistants;
Ability to use trauma-informed approaches to develop effective relationships with students
Ability to assess students' learning and report progress to parents/guardians using Assessment for Learning and outcome-based grading principles on a competency-based curricular framework;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills working with parents, staff members, consultants, and community agencies;
Willingness and ability to participate in the total school program, including religious education;
Willingness to support the school mission statement and participate in all religious activities;
An appreciation of the cultural diversity of the Yukon with the ability to incorporate and promote this diversity within the faith life of the school community;
Knowledge of and sensitivity towards the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population
