The Role

In the Telecommunications Drafting Technician role, you will report to the Manager CAD / GIS Services. Your key responsibilities in this role are to compile relevant information (GPS data, building plans, pipeline information, etc.) to assist in creating high quality drawings for permitting, review, construction and As-builts for our clients. You will contribute to building the essential networks that power communication and connectivity. A Day in the Life
As a Telecommunication Drafting Technician, you'll play a vital role in designing the infrastructure that keeps people connected. Your day will include:
Reviewing project specifications and collaborating with Project Managers and Clients to understand the design and ensure drawings comply with project requirements.
Using AutoCAD, GIS Software, or other drafting tools to create detailed technical drawings from concept to final design. Accuracy is key, ensuring that layouts suitably detailed to convey the necessary information required for construction.
Revising and refining existing design drawings ensuring that all specifications and design data are precise and up to date.
Reviewing field data and other third-party sources to create drawing packages and as-builts
Assisting in troubleshooting design challenges and preparing documentation for permitting and construction teams
Obtaining permits from stakeholders for construction, as required
Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the team and ensure project success.
Shift:
Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. May require overtime or working evenings or weekends.

The following are required for this role:
Engineering Design Technology Diploma, AutoCAD Operator Certificate, or 2-5 years' experience in Telecommunications drafting/design in AutoCAD is required
A solid working knowledge of AutoCAD in a design capacity related to layer management and usage, with ability to import and export various file types, including .shp, .dwg, .dgn, .pdf. is a must have.
Experience with FTTX planning and design and knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS platform and web-mapping would be beneficial.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat with an aptitude for computer proficiency
Comfortable with obtaining information from third-party sources including municipalities, utilities, Google Earth, or other mapping applications
Team oriented with excellent communication skills - verbal and written
Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain focus, and adapt to changing demands to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule
Must have strong mathematical and technical skills
Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation - This is an in-office position with no bus service.
