ROHL Global Networks is a long-standing telecommunications and utility construction company dedicated to connecting Canadians in rural, urban, and remote communities. We are looking for a Telecommunication Aerial Lineman to join our Dempster Fiber Line Project. The Telecommunication Aerial Lineman will report to the Dempster Fiber Line Project\xe2\x80\x99s Construction Superintendent, and will be responsible for pulling and lashing fiber cables from utility pole to utility pole and drilling using mounting hardware to secure fiber cables to engineering specifications and industry standards. This is an in-field position, working in the Yukon and/or Northwest Territories, from approximately April to November (dependent on weather conditions). Mobile Camp accommodations will be provided while on shift. Remaining monthswork will be based out of either our Manitoba or Alberta locations.Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret work plans or job specifications to execute all work assigned
Work outdoors in various conditions to place fiber optic telecommunication cables
Operate a variety of construction equipment to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses
Utilize, clean, and maintain standard telecommunication tools and equipment.
Climb poles, ladders, and work at heights up to and exceeding 40 feet
Safely operate bucket trucks and/or other types of man-lifts
Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
Fundamental computer, network, and electronics skills and knowledge
Work independently in the field with little supervision
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
1-2 years of directly related experience working as an Aerial Lineperson
Ability to climb utility poles using climbing spikes and rigging, and experience operating and performing work in a bucket truck and/or other types of man-lifts
Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification or education program
Proficient in new build and pole transfers; knowledge in placing strand, lashing cable, pole transfers & grounding
Solid understanding of current construction practices and proficient knowledge of construction documents
Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e.g., extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
Must have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field with little supervision
Must have, at minimum, a valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with clean abstract
WORKING CONDITIONS (In-Field):
28 work days/10 non-work days
Typically 10 to 12-hour work days
Accommodations will be provided either in Dawson City YK, Inuvik NT or at Mobile Camps along the Dempster Highway between those two locations
WHAT WE OFFER:
$40.00-$45.00 per hour \xe2\x80\x93 Wage based on experience for this role
