Role Overview

The

Technology Architect

will work with system operations and development teams to understand existing data structures, physical data models, and integration schemas. This knowledge will be leveraged to design new APIs, technical schemas, and data extract processes, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises systems and cloud environments. The Architect will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, development teams, and senior management to ensure that architecture solutions meet both technical and business needs while aligning with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, recommend, implement, and manage data and technical architectures across large, distributed, cross-platform environments. Work with clients and stakeholders to gather data and integration requirements, build strong working relationships, and gain buy-in on architecture decisions. Lead the design and delivery of baseline architectures, APIs, and integration models. Build and map API schemas and specifications to database fields and business requirements. Design and implement improved data extract processes, including delta extracts from on-premises systems to cloud environments. Provide technical leadership, training, and guidance to project teams on architecture, data integration, and implementation activities. Develop enterprise data models, information architecture artefacts, and related frameworks, ensuring alignment with IT strategies and enterprise architecture methodologies. Advise stakeholders and management on effective design and implementation strategies. Encourage participation in systems analysis, design, and implementation activities. Review and deliver architecture artefacts, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Skills & Experience Requirements

Experience

Proven experience developing baseline architectures, APIs, integration models, and data mapping. Demonstrated ability to lead the delivery and design of architecture in collaboration with project teams. Extensive hands-on experience with multiple database systems. Strong background in building and managing API schemas and specifications. Experience working directly with clients to gather requirements, advise on technical issues, and present solutions to stakeholders and senior management. Experience providing training, guidance, and recommendations on systems design and architecture.

Technical Skills

Expertise in data design for APIs and vendor integration. Hands-on knowledge of

Azure technologies (Synapse, ADF, Databricks, etc.)

. Strong experience in data modelling, architecture, and schema design. Proven ability to design ETL processes, specifically for delta extracts. Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and artefacts. Strong expertise in business/data analysis, information architecture, and business process re-engineering.

Communication Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, reviews, and technical documentation. Ability to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong client service orientation and ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Public Sector (OPS) Experience

Previous experience working within the Ontario Public Service (OPS) or broader public sector environment is considered an asset.
Must-Have Qualifications

Experience developing baseline architectures, API and integration models, and data mapping. Experience leading architecture design and delivery in collaboration with project implementation teams. Hands-on, in-depth knowledge of

Azure technologies

(Synapse, ADF, Databricks). Strong background in data modelling and related architecture.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: From $90.54 per hour

Expected hours: 36.25 per week
