We're looking for a Technology Architect to support our Information Services team.

The Technology Architect is in the Environments and Automation area within Information Services and works closely with a community of other architects or senior roles such as security, data, integration, business, and application architecture professionals. The "technology" subdomains this role will primarily focus on, but not limited to, is networking, platform, infrastructure, cloud, and workspace.

The Technology Architect you will be responsible and accountable for defining and designing the underlying systems and environments on private data center Infrastructures, to host critical business applications and processes of the organization. They will derive the technology architecture based on the corporate business vision, input into application architecture models and technology trends.

As a technology leader you will be responsible and accountable for designing and understanding an entire system and having full knowledge of the interactions between infrastructure, network, and platform limitations.

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Selecting, designing, and implementing technology solutions to address business needs.
  • Understanding the Proof of Concept (POC) and proving their concepts to ensure feasibility and complexity, to guide the technical team in consideration of risk. Responsible to do technical POCs for new patterns before moving it to development. Demonstrating solutions fit for purpose.
  • Producing formal written architecture and/or design documentation based on project needs.
  • Leading projects from a technical aspect by providing solution analysis, planning, designing of new and enhancements to existing infrastructure, network, and platforms
  • Assuring completeness of deployment and implementation plans of new infrastructure, network and platforms.
  • Conducting research on emerging technologies in support of solution development efforts and make recommendations.
  • Reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing environments and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these environments.
Requirements

To qualify, you'll need at least the following:
  • 5+ years' information technology experience in designing and deploying systems architecture for business applications.
  • Deep technical experience in infrastructure design including private cloud, networking, virtualization, identity, security, and storage.
  • 6+ years of success in consultative/complex technical sales and deployment projects (where necessary, managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects).
  • Have a solid understanding of the architecture, design, implementation and management of all aspects of Microsoft Technology stack and Platform Systems.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of Information security, and security hardening practices.
  • Solid understanding of basic networking and vlan designs and topologies.
  • Excellent understanding of IP networking, network security firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Experience in working with source control, complex applications, web technologies, unit testing frameworks, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, GIT, Visual Studio Team Services and SQL Server.
  • Experience and broad knowledge of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) and related practices and techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of DevOps and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing zero-outage (blue/green) systems and deployments for highly critical business application and implementing database deployment automation.
  • Working knowledge of incorporating architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman , or EACOE into technology architecture practices.
  • Post- secondary education in computer technology or IT related discipline from an accredited institution.
Although not required, the following experience and education/certifications are valuable assets:
  • Financial sector experience (preferably in banking) is an asset
  • Microsoft Certified Solution Developer
  • Microsoft Certified Architect
  • Sun Certified Enterprise Architect / or equivalent certification
  • Sun Certified Java Developer / or equivalent certification
