Position Description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to assist with research study operations in support of world-class clinical and translational research. The successful applicant will provide support of scientific activities and general lab operations. In addition to providing technical assistance for various laboratory activities, the successful candidate will take part in training junior staff and trainees, and in contributing to research projects in terms of interpretation of empirical data.
This role requires an individual with a passion for research, who is self-motivated, proactive, and able to prioritize work in response to multiple demands. This position will often require flexibility in the duties performed and the ability to work as part of a diverse group.
The ideal candidate's responsibilities include, but not be limited to:
Assisting with trainee training/supervision and contribute to trainee projects in terms of academic direction, experimental design, data acquisition/analysis
Provision supervision/hands-on assistance on technical matters
Development of research methods
Execution of independent research projects
Performing basic and advanced experimental procedures in molecular and cellular biology
Performing highly proficient scientific work such as planning and conducting a series of experiments, correlating data obtained, evaluating results, and contributing to grant/peer reviewed scientific manuscripts writing
Assisting with day-to-day laboratory operational tasks including animal colony maintenance
The ideal candidate will have minimally a Master degree in Immunology or related fields with at least 3 years of research work experience. You will have:
Experience in molecular biology, cell biology and protein work, and practical knowledge and applications in genomics and molecular medicine
Hands-on experience for techniques such as:
o Protein detection: Western blotting, ELISA, immunohistochemistry
o Tissue culture: Primary cell isolation and culturing, cell line maintenance
o Gene expression: q PCR, RNA-Seq
o Mouse work: Cardiac tissue dissection, injection, blood collection, gavage, isolation of bone marrow cells, bone marrow chimeras
Practical experience in sequence analysis and/or pathway analysis is an asset
Knowledge in bioinformatics and transcriptomics/proteomics data analysis will be given preference
Strong communication skills (verbal and written), as well as interpersonal and teaching skills
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to function independently but yet collaboratively within the team, and demonstrate a strong work ethic and initiative
Ability to maintain confidentiality and detailed and precise record keeping
