Conduct tax research and drafting communications including responses to government requests, notices of objection, and memoranda
Manage, organize, review and analyze documents
Communicate with clients, advisors, partners and others to gather required information and report on results, as well as invoicing
Take part in collaborative work within a team and coordinate in larger multi-disciplinary teams
Maintain electronic filing of documents and ensure compliance with naming and filing conventions
Tracking files and managing deadlines and action items with the team, managing workflow, and maintaining calendars
Collect, organize, maintain and update templates and database of sample representations
Obtain court documents and audit reports through Access to Information requests
Ensure compliance and administration of client files including engagement letters, authorizations and document management
Enter, review and maintain client account and contact information in the Client Relationship Management (CRM) platform
Preparation and revision of documents and working papers to a high professional standard
Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes and organization
Assist with the development and delivery of training to other administrators within the Tax team as necessary
Formulate and coordinate various internal reports and presentations
Develop a thorough understanding of MNP\xe2\x80\x99s services, businesses and industry
Skills and Experience
Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in office administration, or a certificate program in Paralegal Studies or a Corporate Legal Assistant diploma
Excellent writing skills including proper spelling, grammar and punctuation for complex documentation, with fine attention to detail and accuracy
Strong computer literacy, including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook including superior document formatting
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet specific deadlines
Experience with litigation or similar practices
Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion
Superior interpersonal skills to interact with employees, external counsel and clients, as well as other internal departments
Flexibility to work overtime when required
Bilingual (French and English)
Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Legal or Paralegal Assistant
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a corporate paralegal working in a professional services firm
