Position Information



Part-time support opportunity (classification): Regular

Hourly rate: $28.50

Hours: up to a maximum of 24 hours per week

Reporting To: Senior Manager, Cybersecurity

Department: Office of Research Services, Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Campus Location: Oshawa


Duties and Responsibilities:



The Technician, Cybersecurity Research Lab is responsible for supporting the technology located within the Centre for Cybersecurity Innovation, including the new cyber range, intelligence feeds, and log management systems. The incumbent will be responsible for setting up the high-scale infrastructure and maintaining system uptime. Responsibilities include tracking equipment maintenance requirements, conducting routine scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, optimizing services, allocating resources, asset management, log maintenance, audit measures, system allocation and general maintenance.



LAB COMMISSIONING AND CONTROLS:



Setting up and providing technical support for the complete cyber range and its associated modules. Maintaining the set-up of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) protocols, planning, executing and testing while generating necessary reports. Setting up the internal computing environment and establishing the required local area network (LAN). Architecting the infrastructure required for enabling threat intelligence feeds on Elastic for analytical purposes.

LAB OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE:



Identifying maintenance requirements, conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting when problems present, and optimizing performance. Working collaboratively with a team of cybersecurity researchers, partners and students to support industry-led applied research, allocating resources as necessary. Drafting and managing necessary operational and access control protocols and log maintenance.Conduct periodic audits. Organizing and maintaining regular reports of the operational analytical feed engine.

Qualifications:



A minimum of a three-year advanced diploma or degree in computer science or engineering. A minimum of one-year of relevant work experience is required. Experience or training in cybersecurity is an asset. Strong communication skills required for collaboration in lab environment.
