At XL Aero, we provide innovative solutions for legacy aircraft. We offer engineering services, manufacturing, tooling and test equipment design, as well as PDA, RDA, and STC development. We are Transport Canada-approved CAR 561 Manufacturing Organisation and have a Design Approval Representative (DAR) on staff.
XL Aero is a small but growing company that delivers engineering solutions for Legacy Aircraft Models. Our workload is characterized by numerous projects involving the development of repairs, replacement parts, aircraft modifications and hydraulic test equipment. We are also heavily engaged in Research & Development in areas of additive manufacturing, turbo-electric power generation, and test stand manufacturing.
Consisting mostly of a team of engineers, we are now searching for an experienced technician who can lead multiple production and manufacturing initiatives currently underway. A broad skillset with experience in fabrication, electrical, fuel and hydraulics is desired. This position will work closely with the Engineering team to bring our products to life.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Areas of Responsibility
Carry out build and test plans for new prototype development programs, including assembly, test, disassembly, inspection, repairs, and modifications.
Manage and maintain production facility, including shop tooling and equipment, calibrated instruments, consumable materials.
Define and maintain quality and safety protocols within the production facility.
Develop and implement data acquisition systems, including instrumentation builds, calibration, minor manufacturing modifications, data logging, data processing and preparation of reports.
Coordinate purchasing and manufacturing of components.
Develop assembly and maintenance instructions as part of product entry into service.
Participate in product development teams.
Streamline internal working procedures & and introduce mistake-proofing strategies through continuous development and automation
Desired Skills and Experience
Trades Qualification as Mechanic or Electrician, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), or equivalent experience.
Ability to read and interpret aircraft technical manuals and schematics.
Experience with different makes/models/manufactures of power generation and utility equipment and associated components including fuel systems, cooling, heating, exhaust, transfer switches, electric motors/generators, batteries, solar panels, inverters, rectifiers, controllers, etc.
Proficiency with quality and safety strategies such as 6 sigma, human factors, 5S.

Start date:
Dec 1, 2025 (earlier is possible). Work schedule: 7.5 hour day shift, Monday to Friday at Abbotsford International Airport. Overtime and weekend work may be available as needs arise. A flexible work schedule may be accommodated.
Salary:
Negotiable and will depend on experience.
