Who we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for

As a technical writer, you will create Product User Guides , how-to manuals, process documentation, and \xe2\x80\x9cfrequently asked questions\xe2\x80\x9d pages for corporate wiki(s) to assist CMS users, technical support staff, and other users within both BIMM and our clients/partner organizations. After a product is released, you may also work with product liability specialists and customer service managers to document changes, and you may be called upon to run training seminars with new clients and team members regarding the documented platforms.

In this role, you will often work with computer CMS users, computer support specialists, and software developers to understand complex information and communicate the information to people with diverse backgrounds.

Applying your knowledge of the product end users, you will use JIRA and Confluence to blend text, graphics, flowcharts, sound, and video to create documentation that is clear, concise, and accurate.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation
  • Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers
  • Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
  • Organize and write supporting documents for products & processes
  • Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users\xe2\x80\x99 understanding
  • Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos
  • Contribute to standardizing documentation processes
  • Gather usability feedback from users
  • Revise documents as new issues/processes arise
Who we are looking for

Must Haves
  • Impressive attention to detail and will actively search for accurate answers
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Solid interpersonal and interviewing skills
  • Independence and the ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining focus and productivity
  • B.A. degree or diploma in Technical Writing, Communications, or relevant field, such as English or another Humanities / Arts major.
Nice to Have
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Technical Writer or similar position.
  • Work experience as a Content creator /author
  • Basic technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing
  • Strong computer and software skills (including Google Suite of Products & Jira/Confluence)
  • French fluency (spoken and written)
