Role Summary

Athennian\'s product organization is responsible for creating and maintaining products that delight our customers. We are looking for an experienced technical product writer, who can scale our product documentation to the next level.

As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating world-class documentation for internal and external audiences and for making information available to internal and external customers in innovative and engaging ways. You will work closely with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle to create reliable, clear, and concise content. You must have a passion for working with engineering teams to document technical products, and for working with client facing teams to understand user issues regarding product help. Our users are mostly paralegal and in-house legal department employees who have strong legal backgrounds.

This position is open to remote work options in the following time zones: EST, CST, MST and PST

Key Responsibility 1: Maintain and improve the product documentation website

• Write and update help content based on product releases - user facing documentation and API documentation
• Suggest and make improvements to the documentation website
• Build guides that describe best practices in using the software platform
• Learn the products and be self-sufficient in using software
• Display high user empathy

Key Responsibility 2: Improve the product release documentation process

• Build a repeatable documentation release process such that it aligns with SAAS delivery cycles with the aim of keeping documentation current with product changes
• Ensuring that there is a single place for all product documentation through a single place
• Establish a strong feedback loop with experts in various roles and continuously improve deliverables

Key Responsibility 3: Work collaboratively

• Build strong partnerships with engineers, product managers, customer success and support teams to identify where user\'s need most help to build high impact documentation
• Conduct needs analysis sessions to determine the appropriate depth and breadth of content for the various internal and external audiences
• Partner with the support team to identify areas of improvement for learning content and collaborate with them to produce new learning content

Qualifications:

• Bachelor\'s Degree in a relevant field, such as English, Professional Writing, Engineering, or Computer Science
• Minimum 3-6 years of experience documenting technical products delivered as SAAS in an Agile environment
• Having a background in legal technology is a definite plus, but not required
• Exceptional writing skills to produce effective content for legal technology audience
• Must have experience creating API and code documentation for developers
• Proficiency with content authoring, publishing, and multimedia development using a variety of applications
• Experience or familiarity with DITA and structured authoring
