Job Summary:

Teledyne FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions (IIS), a division of Teledyne Inc., is one of the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading manufacturers of machine vision digital cameras. Our cameras are vital components in the fast growing, transformative industries of robotics, solar inspection, semiconductor, medical and life sciences, ITS, virtual reality, retail, and mass transit.

We are looking to hire a motivated and enthusiastic Technical Support Engineer to join our Support and Applications Team based in our Richmond, Canada office. In this role, you will work with customers to help debug their camera issues and process their RMAs in our ERP system. You will also provide entry level technical assistance to users of Teledyne\xe2\x80\x99s advanced digital cameras.

As a Customer Service Representative, you are the link between our customers and our manufacturing and engineering teams. Since you will be in direct contact with customers, this job requires excellent communication skills. It is important you can communicate technically with customers, while also being able to stay calm if customers are frustrated by their situation.

This position is ideal for detail-oriented people with customer service experience looking to gain skills in a technical field, or junior engineers looking to gain some entry level exposure to customer service and technical troubleshooting.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to users of FLIRs advanced digital cameras across multiple FLIR product lines and applications
  • Answer incoming technical phone calls from end users or from the sales team
  • Use programming knowledge to help debug and resolve issues with end user code
  • Work with engineering to troubleshoot customer reported issues, including reproducing issues in house, debugging with engineering, and following up with our customers with the solution.
  • Use market knowledge and customer interactions to suggest, write, and publish documentation such as Application Notes, Knowledge Base articles, and FAQs
  • Write and present technical material to internal teams, distributors, and end users.
Job Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree in computer systems technology or software development (IT certificates not accepted)
  • At least 2 years of experience in technical support role, ideally in the technical field.
  • Strong customer service skills and/or support experience
  • Fluent in English - spoken and written, other languages would be an asset
  • Excellent all-around technical knowledge (PC hardware, software, general programming)
  • Ability to be responsible, reliable, and well organized
  • Good knowledge of C, C++ or other object-oriented programming language
Additional Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of various digital camera interfaces including such as USB3 and Gigabit Ethernet
  • Basic understanding of software, electrical engineering and/or embedded systems fundamentals
