About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance supervisor, the Technical Shop Coordinator is required to maintain an orderly department with parts stored in their proper location for easy access, developing a system to ensure that stock levels are monitored to guarantee the inventory to be just-in-time and consistent with the requirements of the production and maintenance departments. Working closely with procurement, finance, production and engineering, the Coordinator is accountable for all inventory, including reception and processing, inspection to verify quality and quantity, assignment of inventory to authorized personnel, inventory counts and accurate record keeping.
A strong technical background in machine maintenance, mechanical engineering or related field and demonstrated ability to create and maintain accurate records are required for this role.
Job Requirements
Education: Post-secondary diploma/certificate in a related field
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience directly related to inventory control and equipment maintenance required; Experience in food manufacturing environment an asset (dairy preferred)
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have strong English language skills. The ability to read and understand written English and communicate in English both spoken and in writing is a requirement of the job.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintain accurate Technical Shop inventory, including current location of tools and parts
2. Monitors stock levels to ensure just-in-time inventory levels and to minimize obsolete parts
3. Advises the Engineering Manager and maintenance supervisor on inventory cost controls and analyses inventory needs based on maintenance trends and inventory levels
4. Receives all incoming goods verifying quantities received against quantities shipped on packing slips. Investigates inventory discrepancies
5. Completes Return to Vendor forms when shipping purchased goods back to vendor, following company procedures
6. Issues all parts and supplies to Field Technicians and records transactions on the appropriate Work Order
7. Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
8. Work with Procurement to review and process claims against suppliers
9. Provide product, storage and order information to all internal departments as requested
10. Confirm accuracy of all entries in the system, recording any necessary details and process orders accurately and efficiently
11. Ensure the safe operation of all Technical Shop equipment and ensure physical/system inventory levels are accurate
12. Adheres to health and safety considerations at all times
13. Act as a back-up for the engineering administrative positions when required
14. Other duties will be assigned as required
Working Conditions
The standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Most of the work occurs during regular weekday office hours. However, as an international company with continuous 24-7 operations, hours of work involved may vary to accommodate business needs. Flexible hours are required and may include evening and week-end hours from time to time
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment and include:
Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting and other physically demanding tasks performed for virtually the entire shift (8 to 12 hours)
Lifting?to 25 kg (55 lbs) frequently
Use of various chemicals (i.e. detergents and sanitizing solutions)
Possible exposure to dust, fumes, oils, unpleasant odors, noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable, occasional exposure to ambient temperatures above 28 Celsius and high humidity
Exposure to physical risks using standardized safety precautions and equipment, including, but not limited to slippery surfaces, working around high temperature equipment, heavy and repetitive lifting, etc.
