Technical Service Specialist - Contract (2302067) - Red Deer, AB Where the Chemistry Happens\xe2\x80\xa6 The Technical Service Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Marketing, Sales and Technical product positioning is in alignment for the Region they support. They support sales objectives through direct interaction with the sales team and indirectly by influencing key external customers in the Region. As Technical Service Specialist you will provide technical training to the sales force and key influencers within the Region. This includes training the sales Specialists on investigative field techniques and technical support with product investigation where necessary. Technical Service Specialists look to Senior Technical Service Specialists for input on course design and training techniques suitable for adult education. You will also be responsible for the execution of Demonstration Strip Trial program to support the sale of InVigor canola which includes managing and maintaining site from seeding to harvest. They are responsible for providing supportive data to meet sales objectives and address product usage questions. This includes coordinating third party testing to support label expansion. The Technical Service Specialist will monitor and positively influence key centers of influence (COI) in the region through relationship building and regular contact. These include universities, consultants, provincial extension staff and retail agronomists. The Technical Service Specialist provides the technical link to the market place. Regular interaction with Brand Managers, Retail and Grower Reps, Innovation Specialists, Technical Marketing Managers, and Biology is imperative. The Technical Service Specialists must become familiar with new BASF products 1 year prior to market. Formula for Success: You Will\xe2\x80\xa6

  • Develop Technical Information to support product positioning in the Region by monitoring and positively influencing key centers of influence (COI) through relationship building and regular contact; providing product information, label updates, and technical results to COI\'s; and administering local demonstration and grant in aid programs to support business goals in the Region.
  • Manage regional summer demand creation programs by executing activities including large scale grower trials and demonstration sites within the Region; supervising Technical Service Summer Associates who support summer demand creation activities and data collection on key projects; and coordinating third party research associated with third party demo sites.
  • Provide Technical Training of Retail and Grower Sales Representatives through a variety of presentation tools, technical training and reinforcement of product positioning with sales force, technical support for product inquiries and One on one technical sales calls with key influencers.
  • Provide Technical Writing for Sales and Marketing Tactics using generated field and university research data to develop tools that support marketing and sales tactics and facilitate the technical transfer of information; developing and implementing strategic plans for each KIP that often relate to joint research projects, graduate student projects, etc.
Qualifications

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You\xe2\x80\xa6
  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Agriculture/Biology with emphasis on crop science, weed science, agronomy, entomology, plant pathology or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 relative field agronomy experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to recommend product positioning based on evaluating data and customer needs. Experience in working with growers, distribution/retail, universities, or consultants would be beneficial.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Must be effective when communicating with a wide variety of audiences and must be able to relate with key influencer contacts on product technical attributes and agronomic issues associated with major crops in the Region.
  • Actively participate on teams to achieve business goals. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership to the sales team is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with others as it relates to product positioning. Must be skilled at development and delivery of presentations to both external and internal customers.
  • Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient in various software programs, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Must be able to operate and transport plot equipment for spraying, maintenance, and management of the Demonstration strip trial program. Must be eligible and willing to obtain the correct license in the province of employment to perform these tasks.
