Job Summary:

We are looking for a driven and technically skilled professional to support our sales team with equipment selection, quote preparation, and application engineering for R744 (CO?) refrigeration and heat pump systems. This role is ideal for someone early in their HVAC/R or mechanical engineering career who enjoys solving technical challenges and working closely with customers and internal teams. You will partner with Account Managers to develop proposals and technical solutions for commercial and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Quoting & Technical Support

Review RFQs, project specifications, and mechanical drawings to build customer proposals and quotes. Perform equipment selection based on load calculations, ambient conditions, and application requirements. Prepare cost estimates, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and technical documentation for proposal packages. Configure system options such as compressors, heat exchangers, controls, and safety components for R744 applications. Create quotation technical details for CO? transcritical booster and heat pump systems.

Sales Team Support

Work closely with Account Managers to support customer inquiries and project bids. Assist with technical clarifications during pre-bid and post-bid discussions. Maintain CRM records and help track quote status and project pipelines. Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing teams for pricing and feasibility.

Customer & Project Interface

Respond to customer technical questions related to system design, power requirements, refrigerant safety, controls integration, and equipment layout. Provide documentation such as P&ID diagrams, electrical loads, dimensional drawings, and datasheets. Support customer meetings and product presentations as required.

Product & Process Knowledge

Develop an understanding of R744 system components, refrigeration principles, and OEM product capabilities. Stay current on industry codes and standards (CSA B52, ASME, ASHRAE) and regional requirements (TSBC, TSSA, etc.). Contribute to continuous improvement of proposal tools, quote templates, and standard configurations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC/R Technology, Building Systems Engineering, or related discipline. Red Seal Refrigeration Mechanic or Gas Fitter background is considered an asset.

Experience

2-5+ years experience in HVAC/R, industrial refrigeration, mechanical design, or equipment quoting/estimating. Knowledge of thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles, and heat transfer principles. Experience with R744 (CO?), industrial refrigeration, heat pumps, or compressor systems strongly preferred. Familiarity with commercial/industrial RFQs. CRM experience (Salesforce, Odoo, etc.) is a plus.

Technical Skills

Understanding of P&IDs, equipment sizing, and system layouts. Familiarity with PLC/VFD control systems is an asset. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical specifications and engineering documents.. Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on mindset. Strong Excel skills; experience with engineering tools or CRM systems an asset. Comfortable working with technical specifications and engineering documents.

Soft Skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in quotes and documentation. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Organized and able to manage multiple quoting deadlines. Curious, eager to learn, and technically minded.

Key Performance Indicators

Quote accuracy and response time. Win rate of supported proposals. Customer satisfaction and internal team feedback. Quality and completeness of technical documentation.
