The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.The Technical Officer, Human Factors\' main responsibilities are to:
  • Support the conduct and analysis of human factors experiments and/or tests;
  • Collect data from human participants in laboratory, aircraft, and field environments;
  • Administer computerized tools for questionnaires and surveys;
  • Operate data acquisition systems for physiological and/or behavioural measurements;
  • Apply software tools for data management, data processing, and statistical analysis;
  • Contribute to project reports and scientific publications.
Screening CriteriaApplicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:EducationA university degree or college diploma with postgraduate certificate of recognized standing in engineering, psychology, computer science, or human-computer interaction with an emphasis on human factors (e.g., course work in human factors methods, perception/cognition, statistical analysis of behavioral/physiological data, workspace/equipment layout, human-computer interaction) or equivalent combination of work-related experience, training and education.For information on certificates and diplomas issued abroad, please seeExperience
  • Recent experience surveying or conducting research with human participants
  • Recent experience with programming languages such as Python, Matlab, etc.
  • Recent experience using computerized tools or systems for experimental data collection
  • Demonstrated experience using analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Assets:
  • Experience programming surveys using Qualtrics or similar tools
  • Experience doing statistical analysis using R and/or SPSS
  • Experience with physiological data collection and processing
  • Experience performing annotation and segmentation of video data
  • Experience using qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo)
