People like you!This is skilled technical work in maintaining the City\xe2\x80\x99s computer infrastructure related to Multimedia. Under the general direction of a supervisor, an incumbent of this class performs tasks related to the ongoing procurement, configuration, deployment, support and maintenance of multimedia infrastructure including audio-visual equipment, video conference equipment in meeting rooms, digital signage systems and municipal meeting management software for the City. Ensuring functionality and efficiency of the equipment, as well as troubleshooting hardware, software and related problems. The incumbent also participates in the evaluation and acquisition of multimedia technology and may act as a project leader. Responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing system and infrastructure performance and effecting changes to increase the system\xe2\x80\x99s efficiency; investigates and resolves multimedia infrastructure hardware, software, and operating system problems which affect the performance and quality of the audio and video, liaises with vendor representatives and business departments; recommends improvements and optimization of equipment as needed; sources, evaluates and recommends the purchase of multimedia hardware and software; coordinates the installation of multimedia hardware and software, may act as project leader regarding the acquisition and implementation of approved technologies; documents requirements; provides verbal and written presentations regarding technological issues, proposals and projects to internal staff. Provides advice, assistance and, as required, training to user and department staff on technical matters including Mayor and Council during live public meetings. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include graduation from an institute of technology with a diploma in computer systems technologies with specific courses related to communications and network systems plus considerable related experience, including infrastructure management (i.e., multimedia) experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of storage and local and wide area infrastructure such as multimedia, AV and meeting room technologies and standards, hardware platforms and configuration options. Considerable knowledge of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to the work performed. Ability to investigate and resolve multimedia hardware, software and related component problems as related to the work performed. Ability to test and evaluate multimedia application software and make recommendations regarding standard configurations. Ability to prepare and present technical presentation both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of staff and external contacts.
