About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Healthcare Building Infrastructure Projects (HBIP), the Technical Security Architect is responsible for ensuring that the Provincial Healthcare Infrastructure Portfolio of projects are built according to the established standards for Information Communications Automation Technology (ICAT), Enterprise Architecture (EA), Cyber-Security and Privacy Standards and Policies.

The role involves highly specialized, conceptual and project work coordinating the design development with multiple provincial healthcare technologies that are compliant with strategies, policies, standards and guidelines otherwise deployed across government.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Architecting and designing network and security solutions for healthcare building systems, physical IT infrastructure, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, routers, and switches as well as detailed understanding of the central controlling infrastructure needed for renovations and new build projects.
  • Documenting reusable technical designs and standards to support ICAT deployments and championing solutions through architectural review process.
  • Consulting with project managers and systems owners on how to best leverage these ICAT standards to deliver clinical enablement provincially.
  • Ensuring that functional programs meet the current and future needs of the NSH in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.
  • Driving business and IT alignment to leverage reusable architecture capabilities
  • Collaborating with IT management to define and develop technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and network security best practices for healthcare clients.
  • Interacting and consult with appropriate business analysts, and project managers to understand application/project requirements and define architectural solutions to meet those requirements
  • Ensuring that projects follow the prescribed development life cycle and meet quality standards
  • Assisting with analyzing and recommending IMIT software acquisitions and alternative solutions/methodologies/strategies and tools
  • Keeping current with trends and technological innovations in the passive physical infrastructure Cable and IT industry, and make appropriate development recommendations
  • Identifying IT risks associated with component or application implementation
Qualifications and Experience

As the successful candidate, you will have a bachelors degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 5 years experience or graduation from a recognized Technology and Information program plus 5 years 6 months experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

In addition, you have experience with:
  • Broad knowledge of the information technology landscape stretching from physical IT infrastructure, network, client, server, cyber-security, and emerging technology standards and trends.
  • Healthcare and clinical technologies enablement and compliance with security and privacy policies, including Privacy Impact Assessments and Threat Risk Assessments.
You have familiarity with:
  • IT Risk Management methodologies like COBIT-19 and their implications for clinical IT enablement in a healthcare environment.
  • Architectural review Process employed by NSDS and the threat risk assessment stage in particular
  • Medical data interfaces, specifically HL7, and security protocols and standards in relation to Protected Health Information.
  • Integration Engine interoperability
  • Mobile devices, particularly in their integration with larger systems.
  • Software defined networking and smart building enablement within healthcare.
Should have a broad knowledge of the ICAT and/or Technology and Information (T&I) Industry, expert knowledge in specific areas of the ICAT and/or T&I industry as well as a thorough understanding of the government and/or healthcare ICAT and/or T&I environments.

A high level of contact with business users requires that this person possess: excellent business awareness, acumen and analytic skills; excellent communication and facilitation skills; excellent team and consensus building skills; excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to establish effective rapport with users and vendors; and excellent consulting and diplomacy skills.

The incumbent must be a self - starter who can operate independently at a high level with general direction only.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,001.65 - $3,525.41 Bi-Weekly
