About Our Opportunity

As the AMANDA Technical Architect, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside business analysts, vendors, project managers, software developers, and development operations to ensure the functionality, stability, and security of the AMANDA platform for the province.

The technical architect is responsible for managing the risk catalogue, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, threat risk assessments, vendor security obligations, and the overall health and stability of the AMANDA environment.

The technical architect will be responsible for engaging with the firewall team, integration team, database team, digital identity team, third party vendors, and all other groups that have a direct or indirect technical relation to the AMANDA platform. The technical architect will ensure that all planned initiatives align with the roadmap of the supporting systems.

The technical architect will be the custodian of the architecture diagrams and be the source of knowledge for all software and supporting systems including versions, patch releases, and support lifecycle. The technical architect will be responsible for liaising with technical resources and counterparts from the third-party support supplier and the AMANDA vendor to stay up to date with security issues, available releases, new features, patches, and technical roadmap.

The technical architect will work closely with the AMANDA Product Manger to ensure initiatives remain aligned with the overall AMANDA roadmap and vision. The technical architect will attend AMANDA project meetings and represent the AMANDA platform from a technical perspective.

Primary Accountabilities

The AMANDA Technical Architect\'s responsibilities include:

  • Manage Threat Risk Assessments, Vulnerability Assessments, and Penetration testing and the subsequent responses, actions, and remediations.
  • Represent the AMANDA solution as the platform stability and security stakeholder in projects and CSDS initiatives that impact the platform.
  • Help set AMANDA strategy and roadmap for the future.
  • Help ensure AMANDA software and supporting software and hardware are up to date and secure.
  • Manage software version updates and patch release schedule.
  • Maintain current and detailed architecture diagrams for all AMANDA instances and related systems and environments.
  • Be the source of knowledge for all required technical input to Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Maintain catalogue of user permissions and access for the AMANDA platform.
  • Work with support supplier to solve technical challenges that arise from AMANDA initiatives.
  • Keep disaster recovery plan current and work with other teams to ensure consistency across the environment.
  • Help ensure all security and technical requirements and obligations in the support supplier vendor contract are met.
  • Keep up to date on latest announcements, offerings, and initiatives from AMANDA vendors and Support Suppliers and how they impact the province\'s platform.
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science plus a minimum of 5 years of experience, or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program, plus 5 years and 6 months experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience.

You have a demonstrable depth of experience in the following areas:
  • Supporting a large multi-client software platform.
  • Creating and updating architectural documents, standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team including third party vendors.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of data accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Deliver results and meet timelines.
  • Articulating decision-making criteria, approaches, impacts, risks and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to work within a self-directed culture and navigate ambiguity.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: Threat Risk Assessments, Vulnerability Assessments, and Penetration testing.
  • Creating and updating Disaster Recovery procedures.
The following would be considered assets:
  • Experience working in a health care or public sector environment.
  • Existing knowledge of and experience working in an agile manner within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with the AMANDA platform.
  • Experience with public-facing portals.

An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be accepted in place of education requirements. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,091.70 - $3,631.17 Bi-Weekly
