About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Health Portfolio, you will be part of a team that provides project intake services to NSDS for Nova Scotia Health (NSH), Isaak Walton Killam (IWK) Hospital, Department of Health and Wellness (DHW), Office of Professional Healthcare Recruitment (OPHR), Office of Mental Health and Addictions (OMHA) and Department of Seniors and Long Term Care (DSltC). You will be a key member of various multi-disciplinary teams that deliver IT enabled solutions to best meet the needs of users whilst aligning with Provincial technology standards and industry best practice.

Primary Accountabilities

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • leading the team in the design of the technical solution and delivering a technical architecture with consideration for usability, data security, sustainability, and cost whilst balancing input from business stakeholders, application analysts, cyber security, vendors, NSDS infrastructure groups and others.
  • guiding Health projects through the phases of the Architecture Review Board (ARB) approval process, from conception through to implementation of the live Production system.
  • documenting and communicating the solution architecture to all concerned parties and managing the process to ensure the best and most cost-effective solutions get deployed to serve the citizens of Nova Scotia.
  • Engaging directly with NSDS operations and technical teams to coordinate certain aspects of implementation
  • provide consulting and advisory services to leadership and teams within NSDS and our Health partners and participating in RFP development and evaluation
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a university degree in a related field, such as Computer Science, along with 5 years of related, progressive experience in Information Technology or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program along with 5 years 6 months related experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.

You are a critical thinker who provides innovative information technology solutions in a fast-paced environment, and quickly adapts to competing priorities, contentious issues, and challenging deadlines.
As the ideal candidate, you are someone who enjoys building relationships and gaining consensus through strong stakeholder management, are willing and able to evoke change, and are keen to make a difference. You are a technical subject matter expert in one of more areas such as hardware, software, databases, or infrastructure acquired through additional training and experience.

Key components of success will be effective interactive communication skills (both verbal and written) and demonstrated experience working at the strategic level to identify and understand business challenges and determine how enterprise architecture can reach across multiple disciplines to help form a solution. You must also be a self-starter who proactively keeps abreast of new emerging technologies and can operate independently at a high level with general direction only. A strong sense of curiosity is very important as the position involves constant learning.

While not required, it is considered an asset if you have ITIL Foundation certification or similar certifications.

Candidate's qualifications and competencies will be assessed using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,001.65 - $3,525.41 Bi-Weekly
