to support and maintain a variety of laboratory facilitiesfor the Department of Electrical Engineering and Technology. Your responsibilities include testing, repairing, assembling, and maintaining lab equipment, developing and documenting maintenance procedures, inventory control, equipment and parts purchasing and other tasks as required for department operations. This role is critical to ensuring our students have access to safe, reliable, and industry-standard equipment for hands-on learning.
Duties & Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of electrical engineering lab equipment.
Assemble and calibrate benchtop and on-ground equipment for areas including:
+ Analog and digital electronics
+ Automation and instrumentation
+ Electrical power and industrial control
+ Telecommunications
+ Industrial networking Develop and document maintenance procedures and technical manuals.
Draft electrical schematics for existing systems and planned installations.
Manage inventory, order parts and equipment, and liaise with vendors.
Reconcile invoices and coordinate with the finance department for expense tracking.
Ensure compliance with CSA standards and the Canadian Electrical Code.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Technical Expertise:
Minimum
10 years
of experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and high-power equipment.
Proven ability in troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of electrical engineering equipment.
Experience in control panel building, wiring, and mounting electrical components.
Familiarity with networking hardware (routers, servers) and troubleshooting industrial networks.
Strong understanding of CSA standards and Canadian Electrical Code.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Technology.
Minimum
10 years
of relevant experience in troubleshooting and repair.
Eligible for registration with
ASTTBC
as AScT or CTech (preferred).
Excellent command of English (written and oral).
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical principles and continuous learning.
