Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to write, edit, and project manage end-user documentation for NETGEAR hardware products and software applications. The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, has experience with DITA XML, and is a superb analytical thinker who can simplify complex topics for a non-technical audience.


This is a full-time hybrid position based in NETGEAR's Richmond, British Columbia office.

Key Responsibilities:

Create task-oriented documentation for new products in a fast-paced business environment. Update existing hardware and software documentation. Collaborate with internal design teams to create product illustrations for documentation deliverables that meet NETGEAR branding requirements, quality standards, and the overall project schedule. Track documentation deliverables as part of an overall product development schedule. Participate in peer editing of documentation deliverables. Work closely with project engineers and product managers to clarify and resolve issues. Work cross-functionally with local and remote teams, including software and hardware engineers, product management, QA, tech support, localization, and marketing. Distill and communicate technical information to audiences with a wide range of technical knowledge. Follow departmental and company policies to create and release documentation. Manage multiple projects and readily adapt to changing priorities.

Required Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in a technical writing, information development, or other documentation-focused role. Bachelor's Degree. Curiosity and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies. Proven excellence in writing end-user documentation in clear, concise English. Experience with topic-based, task-oriented technical writing. Mastery of English grammar and punctuation. Ability to comply with style guidelines. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to direct the work of others. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience writing documentation in DITA XML. Experience with DITA authoring tools, preferably Heretto or other CCMS. Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of networking technologies. Knowledge of cellular device technologies. Proficiency with Adobe InDesign. Experience with print document design and production. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat Professional.
