Job Description

South Saskatchewan Animal Hospital is currently seeking a full-time Tech Assistant to join our team. As an AAHA accredited practice, we provide high-quality care to all our patients and are looking for individuals who can help us do just that. Our successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, a drive to succeed and above all else, a passion for animal care!

A friendly, reliable, punctual person who possesses excellent oral and written communication skills will be required for this role. Previous experience within the veterinary industry is necessary. We will provide the training and support you need to succeed. Many of our Tech Assistants further their education and become RVT's with the help of our supportive and growth oriented team!

Duties include assisting our Veterinarians and Technologists with the following:

a) Escorting clients and pets into exam rooms and gathering a brief medical history prior to exams

b) Obtain vitals

c) Prepare estimates and invoices for clients

d) Run laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic imaging

e) Occasional phone assistance for reception

Additional duties include:

1) Assist RVT's with sample collection, catheter placement, wound care, suture removal etc. using proper patient handling and positioning

2) Providing basic patient care such as feeding and providing walks, cleaning kennels, nail trims, etc.

3) Maintain clinic cleanliness as needed and work with other department teams to ensure clinic remains organized, neat and tidy

Our Tech Assistants shifts are typically 12 hours with two 30 minute paid breaks. With longer shift times you will receive approximately 15 days off month! Our perfect candidate will need to be flexible and open with their availability as the clinic shifts will fall during days, evenings and weekends with varying start times.
