Times: Monday- Friday: 2:00 Pm - 6pm
Opportunity to add on Pa Days, Camps and Field Trips
Session Dates: September 5th- June 28th ( closed on TDSB school holidays opportunities for camps at this time) school-year contract, with option to renew
Compensation: $24- $27/hr

Why this role matters
Our after-care program is often the last impression a child has of their day at TNS. We're looking for an exceptionally organized, upbeat leader who can turn late afternoons into mini-adventures--fostering belonging, safety, and wonder in nature while steering a small an educator team.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
Plan & deliver nature-rich activities (shelter-building, storytelling, citizen-science, loose-parts play) that honour TNS philosophies and the Calls to Action for Truth & Reconciliation.
Team Supervision
Schedule, coach, and evaluate 4-6 after-care educators and volunteers; model best practices in outdoor risk management and child-centred guidance. Organize scheduling, and tracking staff hours.
Family Communication
Greet caregivers, share daily highlights, and document any incidents or medication logs. Send out monthly newsletters to parents. Track after school email communications and respond in timely manner.
Site & Safety Management
Maintain gear bins, first-aid kits, and sign-in/out procedures lead daily and seasonal risk/hazard checks; ensure ratios are met at all times.
Administration
Track attendance, staff hours, and supply and snack orders.
Ensure that participants are having a fun, safe, and engaging in high quality learning experiences.
Be comfortable around water, beach. Monitor children vigilantly.
Supervise and ensure children are being safe and supported at all times during their program.
Ensure that student are on time at their school in the appropriate spot.
Monitor email/ phone and respond to parents and guardians in a timely and appropriate manner.
Follow Health and Safety protocols and procedures including Covid-19 guidelines
Clean up after activities ensuring that the learning and playing areas are clean, organized-and safe to ensure the Health & Safety of all participants. Maintain the safety of children, understanding sun/ snow safety.
Engage in play based and developmentally appropriate programming for all collaborate with other staff to share ideas.
Assess risks and risk management of sites and children, perform a site check upon arrival.
Ensure first aid kits and contact information are properly handle and stored.
Encourage community culture.Familiarize yourself with the school philosophy's and forms. Set up and clean up at the beginning and end of classes.
Send monthly communications to families highlighting any learning.
Must-Have Qualifications
Proven team leadership--minimum 2 years supervising staff or volunteers in camps, schools, or recreation.
Ultra-organized mindset--you thrive on schedules, clear checklists, and proactive problem-solving.
Experience designing or delivering outdoor or experiential education for ages 4-11.
Current Standard First Aid & CPR
Clear Vulnerable-Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).
Extensive Experience working with children
Love for the outdoors
Comfort working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions common to Toronto
Bonus Skills
Ontario Certified Teacher, RECE, ECE, CYW, or Forest School Practitioner certification.
Knowledge of local ecology, Indigenous land acknowledgements, and inclusive education
