Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services is a newly established organization dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of Saugeen First Nation children and families and build capacity to operationalize Saugeen's child wellbeing law, Zaag'idiwin. Saugeen children and families are at the core of who we are - they are our most valuable resources. We believe it is our collective responsibility as Saugeen to care for one another.
Position Summary
The Team Manager - Case Work Support is responsible for supervising and mentoring a team of case workers to ensure culturally grounded, family-centered services that align with Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services' mission. This role supports the implementation of Saugeen's child wellbeing law, ensuring high-quality service delivery, adherence to timelines, and strong collaboration with families, staff, and community resources.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, supervision, and coaching to a team of case workers.
Ensure case work practices are culturally relevant, strengths-based, and consistent with Zaag'idiwin principles.
Monitor workloads and support staff in managing caseloads, meeting deadlines, and navigating complex cases.
Review and approve case documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legislation and internal policy.
Coordinate team meetings, case consultations, and case conferencing.
Support staff in building relationships with families, community services, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers.
Assist with onboarding, training, and professional development planning for case workers.
Participate in inter-agency meetings and collaborate with child and family service partners.
Identify service gaps and contribute to program development and continuous improvement.
Other related duties as assigned to support the operational success of Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, or a related human services field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in child and family services, with progressive responsibility.
Supervisory or team leadership experience is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of Indigenous child welfare practices, Saugeen community values, and trauma-informed care.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff in frontline roles.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
Proficient in case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Requirements
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Ability to work flexible hours to meet operational needs.
