About Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services

Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services is a newly established organization dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of Saugeen First Nation children and families and building capacity to operationalize Saugeen's child wellbeing law, Zaag'idiwin. Saugeen children and families are at the core of who we are - they are our most valuable resources. We believe it is our collective responsibility as Saugeen to care for one another.

Position OverviewThe Case Manager provides culturally safe and holistic support and coordination for child well-being workers (band representatives), ensuring effective safe delivery for children, youth and families involved with Zaag'idiwin Naaknigewin. The case manager mentors and supports child well-being workers as they conduct assessments, develop service plans and connect families to resources.Key Responsibilities

Support to Child Wellbeing Workers



Serve as the primary point of contact and mentor for assigned Child Wellbeing Workers. Provide guidance in client assessment, service planning, documentation, and cultural integration. Monitor workloads, maintain quality service delivery, and assist with complex cases. Facilitate regular check-ins and team meetings to review progress and address challenges.

Advocacy & Coordination



Advocate for clients' rights and ensure culturally relevant services are accessible through Child Wellbeing Workers. Coordinate with agencies and service providers to deliver integrated care. Ensure inclusion of Indigenous traditions, teachings, and values in service delivery. Engage Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure cultural safety in case planning.

Documentation & Oversight



Maintain accurate oversight records, reports, and compliance documentation. Track case progress and support Child Wellbeing Workers in updating plans. Review and approve case notes and reports for completeness and accuracy.

Community Engagement



Build relationships with community members, agencies, and service partners. Participate in outreach and community events to raise awareness of available supports.

Other Duties



Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development. Perform related duties as assigned to advance the operational success of Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services.

Qualifications



Education & Experience



Diploma or degree in Social Work (with RSW designation in good standing) or Child and Youth Worker (CYW) designation. Minimum of 3 years' experience in case management, child welfare, or social services. Experience working with Indigenous communities, preferably Saugeen First Nation.

Skills & Knowledge



Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and culturally safe practices. Excellent communication, advocacy, and mentoring skills. Ability to coordinate and manage multiple cases through directed oversight. Proficiency with case documentation and case management software.

Other Requirements



Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle. Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
