KSCS is seeking an experienced and responsible individual to join our team as the Team Leader of Special Family Support, providing support in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach while promoting resilience and well-being in the Kahnawa:ke community. Under the guidance and support of the Manager of Assisted Living Services, the Team Leader of Special Family Support (SFS) is responsible to ensure the implementation and management of the Special Family Support Program. Plays a critical role in creating a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, respected, empowered and have the tools and support to succeed.


Department: Assisted Living Services


Duration: Indefinite full-time position, with a 6-month probationary period.


Salary: Starting at $37.06/hour.


Schedule: 35 hrs/week; must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary


Description




Under the guidance and support of the Manager of Assisted Living Services, the Team Leader of Special Family Support (SFS) is responsible to ensure the implementation and management of the Special Family Support Program. Plays a critical role in creating a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, respected, empowered and have the tools and support to succeed. Decisions based on significant analysis and interpretation within policy. Modifies methods, techniques and procedures to achieve results. Has full autonomy to deliver to predefined accountabilities. Technical output is trusted as accurate and sound. Through trauma sensitive approaches and a commitment to legal integrity, this position helps to foster an organizational culture that prioritizes trust, respect, and well-being, while upholding the organization's goals of compliance, equity, and creating a positive, resilient workplace for all.

Responsibilities




Oversees the SFS Program Development:

Prepares and develops yearly SFS Program and strategic planning. Develops and maintains the SFS Program Standard Operating Procedures and monitors applications. Prepares and submits contract requests and makes recommendations for contract renewals. Implements procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization. Coordinates program reports. Coordinates training/information sessions relevant to SFS Program. Develops and implements innovative promotional, educational and public relations strategies for the SFS Program. Approves, disapproves and signs all related Purchase Orders and Cash Disbursements up to $1,000. Assigns and reviews necessary hours regularly to ensure the assigned staff complies with the Individual Service Plan and meets with families and workers, as needed. Monitors the standard operating procedures for all financial matters of the SFS Program. Researches and prepares workshops. Develops and maintains a resource network to support the services and projects. Establishes and maintains a database on the projects carried out by the program. Accesses and reviews current material to ensure the programs/projects remain up to date.

Provides Client Case Management:

Coordinates and manages proper filing for all SFS Program components including but not limited to client files, intake processes, referral processes, personnel, timesheets and correspondence. Coordinates intake requirements for all new clients, identifies Case Worker assigned to the client, assesses process, tools and ensures service plans and case reviews are carried out as identified case manager. Performs assessments and reassessments of cases that may include crisis intervention and medical emergencies. Evaluates service delivery and Individual Service Plans to ensure that the needs of the clients are being met. Plans, implements and evaluates the SFS Program components, regularly. Attends necessary meetings and reviews contract renewals for all SFS Program clients receiving services from outside organizations. Assists the staff in supporting the clients and his/her family by seeking out opportunities and accessing human resources within Kahnawa:ke or generic services: schools, health institutions, employers and other persons and organizations (i.e. lawyers, medical resources, etc.). Reviews, investigates and handles individuals or group complaints. Relays the needs assessments and special requests for additional services for clients to the Manager of ALS for approval. Prepares and forwards reports and recommendations. Networks and communicates regularly with the client as it pertains to planned activities

Provides Supervisory Duties for Special Family Support Services:

Provides direction and guidance to the team in relation to KSCS Strategic Framework and Community Wellness Plan. Provides leadership and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws by the following: + Recruiting appropriate staff.
+ Addressing complaints.
+ Resolving problems.
+ Training employees.
+ Team-building activities.
+ Directing specific work.
+ Appraising performance.
+ Recommends for termination of an employee, when necessary.
Regularly evaluates service deliveries regularly and reports the results to the Manager of ALS, maintaining consistent communication to ensure quality of service. Manages employee attendance and scheduling by monitoring work hours and approves timesheets, vacation, sick leaves and flexible hours while ensuring staffing coverage for vacation, wellness, days, evenings and holiday services. Ensures job descriptions are kept up-to-date and relevant to the mandate of KSCS. Oversees team members in alignment with established work plans, ensuring effective coordination, task assignment, and clear guidance to support successful execution of responsibilities. Establishes regular team and staff meetings. Guides and directs program staff in the development, promotion, planning, implementation and evaluation of the programs, services and tools to ensure quality and effectiveness. Identifies staff training needs, research and develops appropriate training programs, approves relevant training requests, and implements initiatives to support team development. Oversees, trrains, attends meetings and supports the Life Skills Support Workers.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned, approaching each task with flexibility, clarity, and a supportive attitude.

To ensure the staff are meeting deadlines and standards of practice in managing the case files and updating files as per the guidelines. To deal with the clients with tact, respect and fairness. To assist with the preparation of thoroughly researched and well written reports. Uphold confidentiality practices in all matters.

Qualifications

Education and experience:



D.E.C. from College or CEGEP with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a related field.
OR
High School Diploma with five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a related field.

Skills and requirements:



Knowledge and experience with case management and assessments. Experience in program development and planning. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, focused decision making, open to challenges. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to craft articulate documents such as proposals, reports, briefs and correspondences. Ability to deal with the pressure and demands of the job. Must have a good knowledge of developmental delays and physical disabilities. Good knowledge of Kahnawa:ke and the issues, concerns and socioeconomic problems facing the community. Strong commitment to trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and community-based approaches. Intermediate knowledge of computer skills. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Lifestyle reflects the values of a positive role model, prioritizing well-being and self-care.
