KSCS is seeking an experienced and responsible individual to join our team as the Team Leader of Special Needs Youth Programming, providing support in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach while promoting resilience and well-being in the Kahnawa:ke community. Under the guidance and support of the Manager of Assisted Living Services, the Team Leader is responsible to facilitate programs and activities that provide youth living with special needs opportunities to participate in a variety of life and work skills activities. Plays a critical role in creating a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, respected, empowered and have the tools and support to succeed.

Duration: Indefinite full-time position, with a 6-month probationary period.
Salary: Starting at $37.06/hour.
Schedule: 35 hrs/week; must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary
Description
Under the guidance and support of the Manager of Assisted Living Services, the Team Leader of Special Needs Youth Programming (SNYP) is responsible to facilitate programs and activities that provide youth living with special needs opportunities to participate in a variety of life and work skills activities. Plays a critical role in creating a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, respected, empowered and have the tools and support to succeed.
Decisions based on significant analysis and interpretation within policy. Modifies methods, techniques and procedures to achieve results. Has full autonomy to deliver to predefined accountabilities. Technical output is trusted as accurate and sound.

Responsibilities
Implements and facilitates the service delivery of the Special Needs Youth Program:
Facilitates the daily programming based on a combination of planned daily individual and group activities and exercises combined with physical, life skills, recreational and educational programming and opportunities to participate in a variety of life and work skills activities.
Provides direct support to program participants, including assistance with life skills development and personal hygiene care; maintains active involvement in daily floor-level care; and provides coverage for Life Skills Support Workers as needed to ensure continuity of support and service delivery.
Identifies needs for the program, participants and family members.
Maintains effective communication inter-and intra-departmentally, with family members and partners.
Ensures procedures are adhered to and reviewed, as needed for proper handling of the client (personal and transporting care) and ensures the safety of the workers.
Assists or conducts groups in issues related to disabilities.
Encourages attendance and participation at the Little Critters Program and the Teen Social Club Program.
Develops and implements creative strategies to link clients to services/ work placements.
Assists in the management of Special Needs Youth Programming:
Maintains appropriate records: statistics and files on all programming activities, financial records, personnel, time sheets, etc.
Maintains proper statistics of attendance and participation.
Prepares the annual report on activities and any other reports.
Researches, prepares budget, coordinates the planning and ensures signed authorization forms are obtained from family members for outings and field trips and upon completion of trip, submits or files any necessary documentation.
Plans future activities and programs.
Prepares monthly calendar and reports on changes to programming.
Assists in processing new intakes and assessments and makes recommendations with ALS service plan for the participant to attend daily programming.
Establishes and maintains liaison with participants and/or parents.
Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of the Special Needs Youth Programming service deliveries.
Networks with all the pertinent support services within the community for i.e. recreation and employability opportunities to assist in the needs of participants and his/her families.
Monitors expense activities in compliance with operating budgets and service plans and approves team members' expense requisitions and travel claims.
Reports all incidents and/or accidents pertaining to in-house programming or outings.
Reviews ISP and service plans every six (6) months.
Coordinates the development of a yearly work plan based on review of the individual ISP's and input by participants.
Coordinates trainings/information sessions relevant to the program area.
Promotes Special Needs Youth Program initiatives:
Researches and makes recommendations for the development and implementation of innovative promotional, recreational and educational strategies.
Coordinates the organization of events such as Information Fairs and Open Houses.
Researches and writes information articles to promote community awareness.
Develops pamphlets, brochures and newsletters for the program.
Acts as spokesperson re: program, available services, and available resources.
Coordinates the updating of the promotional, educational and publicity materials such as pamphlets, videos, photo slide shows, etc.
Supervisory responsibilities for Special Needs Youth Programming:
Provides direction and guidance to the team in relation to KSCS Strategic Framework and Community Wellness Plan.
Provides leadership and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable procedures by the following:
+ Recruiting appropriate staff.
+ Addressing complaints.
+ Resolving problems.
+ Training employees.
+ Team-building activities.
+ Directing specific work.
+ Appraising performance.
+ Recommends for termination, when required. Regularly evaluates service deliveries and reports the results to the Manager of ALS, maintaining consistent communication to ensure quality of service.
Manages employee attendance and scheduling by monitoring work hours and approves timesheets, vacation, sick leaves and flexible hours while ensuring staffing coverage for vacation, wellness, days and evenings and holiday services.
Ensures job descriptions are kept up-to-date and relevant to the mandate of KSCS.
Oversees team members in alignment with established work plans, ensuring effective coordination, task assignment, and clear guidance to support successful execution of responsibilities.
Allocates staff hours in accordance with the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and regularly reviews and evaluates staffing effectiveness to enhance program operations and service delivery.
Establishes regular team meetings.
Authorizes purchase orders and cash disbursements up to $1,000.
Delegates appropriate replacement during Team Leader's absence.
Attends monthly Supervisory sessions and participates in regular supervision sessions with immediate Supervisor.
Identifies staff training needs, researches and develops appropriate training programs, approves relevant training requests, and implements initiatives to support team development
Attends staff meetings/workshops/conferences relevant to area of employment.
Serves as liaison to people who are unfamiliar with other resources.
Submits annual reports/special reports required by funding agencies.
Accepts Stage students and provides proper supervision and adherence to the objectives.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned, approaching each task with flexibility, clarity, and a supportive attitude.

Qualifications

Education and experience:
D.E.C. from College or CEGEP, with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a related field.
OR High School Diploma with five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a related field.

Skills and requirements:
Experience working with individuals living with disabilities and providing supportive and personal care to male/female clientele.
Knowledge of the Kahnawa:ke community, community resources and its community members, his/her challenges, problems and aspirations.
Strong commitment to trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and community-based approaches.
Ability to craft articulate documents such as proposals, reports, briefs and correspondence.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Strong planning skills and ability to write reports and keep up-to-date records.
Computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Board Maker).
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is a requirement.
Able to work some overtime, including weekends and evenings.
