Job Description

The Team Leader - Emergency Team reports to and supports the Manager in the coordination and daily operation of the Emergency Department. Clinical knowledge and leadership skills are used to promote and maintain quality, patient-focused care.

As the Team Leader you will be responsible and accountable for organizing and ensuring patient care services are delivered daily with high-quality, safety and consistency, as well as supporting timely patient flow. This is achieved through continuous monitoring to promote and maintain quality patient-centered care that is timely and efficient to maximize patient outcomes. You will support team members to coordinate and integrate services using the resources of a multi-disciplinary team. As well, you will maintain a positive, collaborative rapport with your team to facilitate efficient patient flow and healthcare excellence.

As the Team Leader you will promote GBGH's Mission, Vision and Values; you will be a role model for teamwork, leadership, and professionalism on the unit, and in turn you will support sustainability throughout the hospital.

Education & Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with current registration in good standing with College of Nurses required
  • Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • Coronary Care - Level 1 and 2 required
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate (or completion within 1st year of hire)
  • Current Advanced Pediatric Life Support certificate (or completion within 1st year of hire)
  • Current Trauma Nursing Critical Care Core course or equivalent (or completion within 1st year of hire)
  • Critical Care certificate preferred
  • Certified in phlebotomy starts
  • Emergency or Critical Care certification an asset
  • Canadian Triage & Acuity Scale certification an asset
  • Minimum two years current emergency/acute care related nursing
  • Experience with computerized documentation an asset

Hours of Work: Temporary Full Time. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
