About the Opportunity
Reporting to and in collaboration with the Health Services Manager, the Team Leader - Anaesthesia Assistant, is responsible for overseeing daily frontline operations, the effective utilization of manpower and physical resources and providing assistance for all aspects of Anaesthesia care throughout the VG and HI sites. This is accomplished through providing direction to staff, coaching, consultation and decision making including scheduling and payroll preparation. The position also requires solid understanding and practice of organizational policies and anesthesia related standards and guidelines.
Assistance is provided for many different areas of anaesthesia care including offsite anaesthesia, monitored anaesthesia care, regional anaesthesia and assistance in trauma and emergency situations. Related duties include the education and evaluation of various health care professional learners associated with the delivery of anesthesia.
As a front-line clinician, the Team Lead maintains skills as an Anaesthesia Assistant and can immediately respond to changes to workload as the workday evolves. The Team Leader also acts as a liaison with other team members and departments to provide safe and effective coverage, ensuring NSCRT and departmental guidelines for safe practice are adhered to.
