Join the Ta na wa Sheway I7x?w ta Uxwumixw - Squamish Valley Operations team as the Elders Coordinator - Team Lead. This position plays a central role in supporting Squamish Nation Elders by coordinating programs, events, and supports that enhance quality of life, cultural connection, and community belonging.
As a program coordinator, planner, and team lead, you will ensure Elders have access to meaningful activities, companionship, and assistance, while also supervising program staff and fostering a safe, respectful, and culturally grounded environment.
What You'll Do

Develop, plan, and schedule Elder programs, including arts, crafts, wellness, and cultural activities.
Coordinate staffing, materials, and facility use to support weekly and monthly Elder meetings and events.
Organize special events such as luncheons, dances, birthday celebrations, and seasonal gatherings.
Provide support and companionship to Elders through one-on-one visits, group activities, and community outings.
Arrange transportation for Elder appointments and collaborate with departments to support Elders transitioning from hospital care.
Supervise Elder program staff, ensuring effective scheduling, mentorship, and support.
Uphold confidentiality, safety, and wellness standards in all Elder-related programs and activities.
Collaborate with the North Vancouver Elders Team to coordinate joint outings, celebrations, and programs.
Contribute to the vision of exemplary programs and services for Squamish Valley members by aligning with community strategies and policies.
What We're Looking For

Certificate in Recreation Management, Elder Care, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience in program coordination, supervisory experience, and knowledge of working with Elders.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and mentor a team.
Proficiency in MS Office applications and experience with databases (JD Edwards an asset).
Experience working in a First Nations environment preferred.
Emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Salary:
$62,500 - $87,500
Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
