We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a fantastic Team Lead, Utility Solar Independent Engineering person to join us in working on a variety of solar projects throughout the US and Canada. You will be involved in the entire project life cycle, work with the biggest developers and financiers in the space and be exposed to cutting edge technology. The primary functions of this position include leading a team of technical project managers, performing and supporting project due diligence, and managing major customer accounts.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do

  • Leading a team of project managers and associates conducting technical due diligence in support of project financing
  • Prioritizing QHSE considerations within the team to ensure safe execution and healthy work environment
  • Providing technical oversight, guidance, and approval for the team, including coordination with civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology, and permitting teams
  • Strategic leadership including people resource planning, interpreting market trends, and developing service offerings
  • Facilitating team personal and career development via coaching, annual review process, and training
  • Support tool development, process refinement, digitization efforts, and lessons learned activities as part of continuous improvement of the team
  • Developing business through managing key client relationships, developing new customers, conference attendance and industry networking, and developing and winning proposals for scopes of services
  • Advancing team and industry thought leadership
  • Supporting and coaching project managers and customers through the financial closing of projects: financing mechanics, certificates, loan drawdowns, and reliance issues
  • Discussing and resolving challenging technical issues
  • Coordinating or performing DNV construction monitoring and site visit activities
  • Supporting our mission and vision, and having some fun while you do it
Position Qualifications

What is Required
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in an engineering, science, business, energy, or other related field is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the solar industry
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and deft project and time management skills, including an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines, and to mentor others in this regard
  • Fluent in MS Office
  • Solution oriented thinking skills and high integrity
  • Understanding energy industry technology (modules, inverters, mounting systems/trackers, balance of system, etc) and exposure to contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, and/or asset management contracts); familiarity with budgets and financial models
  • General working knowledge of the solar project financing process (direct experience preferred).
  • Exceptional business and technical skills and a customer-focused, entrepreneurial mindset
  • Supportive and proactive team member, eager to work in a collaborative environment and inspire others, as well as work on self-directed independent projects
  • Proven HSE mindset and demonstrated behaviour-based safety mentality
  • We conduct pre-employment background screenings
What is Preferred
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree
  • Some concentration of experience in at least one of the following: solar industry construction and operating contracts, solar project construction, operations/asset management, solar project design/development, module/inverter technology, energy assessment, power marketing/offtake contracting, energy storage technology and implementation, or in the independent engineering function
  • Experience performing independent engineering due diligence assessments for project finance
  • Experience managing or leading people
  • Working knowledge of PVsyst and solar energy assessment
  • Industry thought leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of energy storage systems
