SUMMARY

The DSV Road Team Lead, Operations role is responsible for handling all day-to-day operational elements of customer and carrier needs and acts as a next level reviewer for any escalated instances within the operations team.
They seek out and research the best options to move the freight based on customer requirements, and act as a backup for the operations leadership team. They perform all necessary checks and balances to ensure timely and accurate
movement of freight, while providing exceptional service to internal and external customers. The Team Lead, Operations role anticipates, identifies, and rectifies any exceptions, and keep customers and carriers informed of
any variations to projected pickup and/or delivery schedules. The Team Lead will direct and support the staff within the team to ensure high accuracy of data entry, high productivity, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring that all operational services are completed in line with agreed schedules and all administration duties are completed in line with Company guidelines/targets by each team member
  • Motivate and guide department to achieve targets and to work to its full potential
  • Train and coach staff on new system procedures/processes to ensure effective implementation in line with company guidelines
  • Liaise with Carriers/Vendors to ensure that their services remain in line with agreements and Compliance reviews
  • Resolution of all queries, disputes, and payables to ensure carrier contracts are paid within the agreed period
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and processes within the department to improve knowledge and relationships and growth
  • Develop and analyze methods and systems to establish and improve service levels
  • Maintain customer focus and winning new business while maintaining existing business
  • Maintain staffing levels to ensure there is adequate levels of staffing during illness and/or vacation periods
  • Direct team and manage workflow to ensure all operational needs are clear and met in a timely fashion, including but not limited to, quoting, booking, tracking, invoicing, exception handling
  • Work with DSV brokerage department and external brokerage firms to obtain Customs release and if required other government agency
  • Ensure accurate and timely accruals and WIPs for entire team
  • Negotiate with carrier companies, warehousing and logistics vendors as needed
  • Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations
  • Advise department Manager of any transaction problems or irregularities
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, such as the Code of Conduct, assigned work schedules, and attendance requirements
  • Assign accounts to staff based on availability of work
  • Perform performance reviews and implement accountability processes to ensure team growth and success
  • Conduct interviews and participate in the hiring process
  • Ensure productivity is met and adhere to as per DSV Road KPIs
  • Act as CargoWise One Super User, ensuring you and the team are skilled on the CW1 TMS, as well as setting up best practices, processes, and SOPs within the team
  • Train and coach other team member on the most productive workflow and completing daily tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
  • Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • A minimum of 4-5 international transportation industry experience preferred
  • College Diploma / University Degree in Business, Logistics, or International Trade preferable
  • Prior team lead experience an asset
  • CIFFA, an asset

  • Good command, both verbal and written, English skills.

Language and Computer Skills
  • English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.
  • MS Office, with a focus on Outlook, Excel, Planner, PowerPoint, and Word
  • TMS experience
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
