Team Lead, Mechanical

Job Description



As Team Leader, Mechanical, you will be responsible for guiding the efforts of a mechanical development team to ensure the success of various projects.

You will be responsible for growing your team towards full autonomy in an agile development environment. You will work closely with the Engineering Hardware Development Manager on day-to-day team activities, continuous improvement and planning.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide the technical efforts of mechanical development;
  • Act as scrum master within his team;
  • Ensure that the team meets its sprint delivery commitments;
  • Develop team autonomy (\'self-organized\') and accountability;
  • Participate in estimating and planning development projects;
  • Implement best development practices within the team;
  • Participate in the standardization of work methods and tools;
  • Participate in setting up metrics and reports;
  • Ensure compliance with the development process;
  • Plan and participate in design, verification and characterization activities;
  • Plan and participate in compliance analysis activities;
  • Plan and participate in the drafting of engineering reports;
  • Ensure rigorous documentation and configuration management;
  • Participate in staffing and integration activities for new employees;
  • Take charge of team members\' performance reviews;
  • Review and approve time sheets and vacations for team members;
  • Set and monitor objectives for team members.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering;
  • 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical development/design;
  • Experience with the application of DFM & DFT concepts in design;
  • Customer-oriented approach;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (teamwork), leadership, autonomy and proactivity;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be comfortable making quick decisions in situations of risk and uncertainty;
  • Member of the Ordre des ing\xc3\xa9nieurs du Qu\xc3\xa9bec;
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
ASSETS
  • Experience in project management/personnel management;
  • Experience as a scrum master;
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, JIRA and Confluence;
  • Knowledge of quality management principles and methodologies (ISO 13485);
  • Experience with one or more of the following standards: IEC 60601, IEC 60204, ISO 13849 and UL1740.
