Job Description


The Team Lead Consumer and Customer Activation is responsible for leading, motivating and setting direction for the customer activation team which provides thought leadership to the Demand functions (Sales & Marketing). Grounded in the unit\'s Category Vision, this role will be responsible for driving a portfolio approach, developing and activating customer centric category growth which deliver long term sustainable growth. The Consumer and Customer Activation Team will be accountable for building best in class capability in Customer Marketing by partnering across the Demand function to develop and execute strong customer growth plans which improve Mars\' ability to influence retailers.

What are we looking for:

  • Degree level or 8+ years relevant experience
  • Strong Sales, Category Management and Marketing background.
  • Significant and diverse experience across the Demand function and demonstrated ability to develop strong and impactful internal and external relationships and influence customers of all sizes.
  • Ability to navigate complex situations and challenge the status quo with a can do / solution based attitude. Self-reliant, decisive and resilient and able to respond and adapt to a fast moving, changing environment.
  • Proven ability to leverage external perspective and insights to develop trend based strategies which translate into Sales/ Marketing and business results.
  • People leadership of a multi-functional and large team with demonstrated ability to build capability, develop talent and engage associates thought leadership. Commercially and financially astute with sound business judgement and an understanding of the commercial impact of one\'s own decision making.
What would be your responsibilities:
  • Lead a Team of Associates responsible for supporting all sales teams with strategic planning, retail tools, in-store shopper marketing programming, channel strategies, and customer specific innovations.
  • Lead the development and execution of the customers short and long term strategies which optimizes profitability and sales revenue and achieves company, category and customer objectives.
  • Develops an understanding of the customer\'s environment e.g. external trends, competitors and customers current and future needs which is leveraged to build shopper centric customer plans which drive mutual growth.
  • Leverage insights to influence customers to implement solutions and identify new opportunities that will deliver results that are beneficial for both customer, category and business. Evaluates and monitors customer initiatives to drive continuous improvement, efficiency and effectiveness for both customer and company.
  • Lead the customer category growth agenda, building strong and influential relationships focused on delivering shopper, channel and category centric solutions so that Mars is viewed as "THE" trusted category expert.
  • Develop compelling insight led category solutions which influences shopper behaviour and converts more shoppers and transactions at the point of sale for the mutual benefit of the organisation and our customers and identify future customer growth opportunities.
  • In partnership with the perfect store team, develop an integrated picture of success for assigned channel(s)/customers grounded in our global in store leadership strategies. Ensures Mars\' portfolio visibility and presence at point of purchase exceeds market share, perfect store ambitions are realised and strong and sustainable category partnerships/ captaincies are built for mutual, profitable and sustainable category growth.
  • Formulate appropriate planograms and assortment/distributions category and portfolio recommendations across main aisle, transaction zone and recommend relevant secondary displays tactics activation for sustainable mutual category growth, post-assessing activations with a ROI mindset to continuously raise the bar on execution and fuel growth.
