Position Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our growing team. This role provides direct support to our adult students with autism and developmental disabilities under the supervision of our Program Director. For exceptional candidates, this position offers a career pathway to develop into a permanent Teacher role.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct support and implement individualized education programs for adults with autism and developmental disabilities
Assist students with activities of daily living, including personal care needs when required
Implement support strategies and interventions according to each student's behavioural support plan and success support plan
Create and adapt educational materials using platforms such as Canva and Boardmaker
Collect, record, and maintain accurate data for student progress monitoring
Support students' social skills development and community integration activities
Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities
Transport students [in own vehicle] to various class outings - as scheduled
Qualifications
Required
Diploma or Degree in one of the following: Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Autism and Behavioural Science, Behavioural Science and Technology, Social Service Worker, Educational Assistant, Psychology, or related field
Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and/or developmental disabilities
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Clear vulnerable sector police check
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred
Experience creating visual supports and educational materials using Canva, PowerPoint, and Boardmaker
Knowledgeable on utilization of social media
Knowledge of data collection methods and progress monitoring
Training in crisis prevention and intervention strategies
Experience implementing behavior support plans
Knowledge of augmentative communication methods/technology for learning and communication (PECS, Proloquo2Go)
Completion of free 40-hour online Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) training - or willingness to complete

Step 1: Initial Application

Step 2: Creative Assessment
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a practical assessment. You will be asked to:
Create a fun and interactive lesson on an assigned topic using Canva
Your lesson should demonstrate your understanding of creating engaging educational content for adults with developmental disabilities
You will be evaluated on creativity, accessibility considerations, and instructional clarity
Step 3: Interview
Successful candidates from the assessment phase will be invited for an in-person or virtual interview.
