The Head Start Substitute Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the Early Learning program. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Substitute Teacher plays a key role on the inter-disciplinary team by providing Early Learning programming and services that are responsive to the diversity of the population served. Responsibilities: Promote child and parent/guardian\xe2\x80\x99s abilities to achieve goals/objectives through a process that involve assessment, collaboration, observation, reflection, and discussion. Work collaboratively with the classroom teams and resource team members (where applicable) to: Develop and implement goals/objectives directly related to areas of growth. Structure environments, routines and interactions that promote positive social-emotional outcomes for the children in a program. Follow up on progress and outcomes of behaviour support plans, individual program plans and progress reports. Work collaboratively with families and daycares/day homes to calibrate learning goals and/or behaviour plans across child environments. Stay current on updates and changes in best practices and approaches for working with children in the areas of differential instruction, ABE Kindergarten Program of Studies, classroom management, trauma informed care, mental health and early learning. Maintain knowledge and practice with assessment and observation tools as well as other strategies and approaches to early learning development Work collaboratively with site team to connect with community partners when needed (referrals, site visits). Maintain confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned Experience Promoting growth and development of children in any of the developmental domains 2 years direct experience working with pre-school age children in mixed ability settings Completion of required documentation to secure ABE funding Skills Excellent communication skills Basic computer skills Adaptable and flexible Ability to work in noisy environment Current knowledge of inclusive early learning environments and supporting children with social/emotional growth Qualifications Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Education (Early, Special or Elementary Education) Permanent Teaching Certificate or eligibility for Interim Certification Standard First Aid Certification Work Location Various locations within city of Edmonton Position Type Casual Other Information Successful candidate will need to provide recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector plus a recent Child Intervention Record Check.
