JOB SUMMARY:
The Learning Support Teacher provides targeted, small-group intervention to students identified as Requiring Additional Support through screening assessments. Working collaboratively with school administration, the Inclusive Learning Lead, and classroom teachers, the Learning Support Teacher assists in identifying students for intervention, developing schedules, and delivering evidence-based instructional strategies. This role focuses on enhancing literacy and numeracy outcomes through pre-developed phonemic awareness, phonics, and numeracy lessons designed to meet specific learning needs. When possible, the Learning Support Teacher models effective instructional practices to build school capacity and support classroom teachers with whole-class intervention strategies. The Learning Support Teacher must demonstrate proficiency in using technology to monitor and track student progress, maintaining accurate data and sharing results with relevant stakeholders to inform ongoing support and instructional planning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in training seminars to become familiar with targeted literacy and/or numeracy lessons and intervention strategies.
Plan, deliver, and assess instruction for students identified as Requiring Additional Support based on literacy and numeracy screening results.
Assess student progress through the triangulation of evidence (observations, conversations, and student work).
Monitor, document, and track student progress, contributing data and insights for inclusion in school reports.
Communicate effectively and collaboratively with classroom teachers, school administration, and district personnel as needed.
Maintain a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment that fosters student engagement and growth.
Engage in ongoing professional learning to maintain current knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices.
Perform other duties related to school and student success as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Desired Education, Knowledge and Experience:
o Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or a related field.
o Training or coursework related to Indigenous Education and Cultural Competency is an asset.
o Knowledge of the latest education pedagogue and the 20th century learning and teaching methodology and tools.

o Ability to build trust and rapport with students, and maintain effective working relationships.
o Ability to work collaboratively as an active team member.

o Possesses strong data entry and documentation skills
General Employment Requirements:
o Valid Driver's License, and reliable transportation.
o Valid Interim Professional Certificate (IPC) or a Permanent Professional Certificate (PPC).
