:
As a Tax Technician, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks related to tax preparation, data management, client support, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities:
1. Inputting personal tax returns in accordance with your level of expertise.
2. Assisting with tax season activities, including scanning, collating, and supporting various administrative tasks that may arise.
3. Preparing tax estimates and coordinating recommendations for quarterly instalments in collaboration with our accountants and planners.
4. Generating Net Worth statements and Investment Portfolio Detail schedules to assist our planners.
5. Preparing T4 and T5 summary and supplementary slips.
6. Compiling schedules to calculate the weighted average cost base of concentrated securities for tax purposes.
7. Performing bookkeeping tasks with some financial statement preparation.
8. Downloading and reviewing CRA Notices of Assessment and preparing documentation to respond to Requests for Information from the CRA.
9. Assisting and facilitating the downloading and distribution of client tax slips to our Accounting and Tax teams.
10. Uploading and downloading client documents and reports to SmartVault software.
11. Assisting Financial Planners with client management tasks, such as booking meetings, saving emails, updating internal tracking sheets, and sending DocuSign emails as needed.
12. Printing reports from NDEX and printing from Naviplan software as required.
13. Providing occasional administrative support for other departments when availability permits.
Competencies:
1. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Outlook.
2. Proven ability to analyze problems and propose solutions.
3. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, clear reports, letters, and emails, and to communicate effectively and concisely.
4. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
5. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects to timely completion.
6. Self-starter and team player, capable of working independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline-focused environment.
Education and Experience:
1. 2+ years of experience in an Administration role.
2. Post-secondary education, preferably in business and/or accounting.
3. Experience working with DocuSign, SmartVault, and Taxprep is an asset.
